Steps

  1. Apply Contact Cement: First of all, withheld the piece of peeling laminate using a pair of pliers and put or spread contact cement to the underside of the piece as well as the particleboard, with the help of a paintbrush. Keep the piece of peeling laminate at a distance from the particleboard as long as the contact cement is completely dry.
  2. Clamp The Piece: Propel or press the laminate piece onto the particleboard, flattening it with the help of your hand or a J roller in order to make sure the contact along the length of the piece. If possible, clamp the piece in place in spite of the fact that it dries. If in case the piece cannot be clamped due to its location on the cabinet, put in a heavy object on top of it instead.
  3. Pry The Pieces: Now, apply pieces that cannot be held apart from each other while drying, with the help of a spray adhesive. Pry the pieces separately in order to create a gap into which to spray the adhesive, after that, push them together. Smooth the pieces together with the help of a J roller and then clamp them in place if possible.
  4. Use Heat Gun: Get rid of any damaged pieces of laminate veneer or those pieces that are unable to be glued back into place. Using a heat gun will help you loosen the glue, which in turn makes it easy to pull the pieces from the particleboard.
  5. Measurement: Take the measurement of the replacement laminate pieces in order to fit the space, adding a few inches on each side for extending outwards over. Trim them with the help of a circular saw. Put or spread the contact cement to the underside of the replacement laminate pieces as well as to the particleboard. Allow them to dry completely before placing them together.
  6. Sanding The Edges: Finally, propel the replacement laminate piece onto the cabinet, and with the help of a J roller, smooth it out and ensure a good bond. Cut the edges of the laminate with the help of a router and a flush cut bit. Sand the edges, as necessary, with the help of a metal file.
