Proper Procedure Of Fixing Laminate Floor Gaps Around Doors

When you have installed a new laminate floor, then it is highly possible & certain for the gaps to happen around the perimeter of an installed laminate floor. The spaces give the laminate boards room to become more extensive, without them, the floorboards can press in opposition to each other and buckle. The gaps generally get covered by the baseboards, which are regarded as one of the most important parts of the installation, due to the reason that they hold the floor own. However, around the doors, there are usually gaps that don't get covered. The best way when it comes to hiding them is to fill them using a flexible filler, which may include acrylic latex or silicone caulk. Go through the below-mentioned steps carefully, if you are looking to fix laminate floor gaps around the doors:
  1. Prepare The Doorway For Floor Installation: First of all, you need to keep the doorway ready for the flooring installation & this can be done by cutting off the bottoms of the door jambs with the help of a handsaw. Place a spare piece of flooring on the floor next to each jamb before using it as a guide when it comes to making the cut.
  2. Slide The Flooring Under The Jamb: The next step is to move the flooring smoothly underneath the jamb when you install it, making sure to maintain a 1/4-inch gap betwixt the flooring boards and the wall framing. Install baseboards through the wall. Even after performing these procedures properly, it is possible that there might still be a small hole at the corner of the jamb.
  3. Fill The Hole With Acrylic Latex Caulk: Now, fill the hole using acrylic latex caulk in a color that exactly matches the flooring. Apply the caulk with the help of a caulking gun or from a tube. Overfill the hole, to a small degree, and tool it even & uniform by running your finger over it.
  4. Spread A Bead Of Silicon Caulk: Finally, apply a bead of silicone caulk in the gap betwixt laminate flooring and the threshold of an exterior door. Run your finger over the caulk in order to tool it exactly the same way as you would tool caulk through the edge of trim or along a window.
