How To Fix Hardwood Floor Noise: Ways To Repair

Ways To Fix/Repair Hardwood Floor From Noise

The users need to gather all the materials like wood screws, wood shims, rubber mallet, putty knife, talcum powder, wood putty, sandpaper, drill, and joist bracket. There are many ways by which the users can fix the noise under the hardwood floors. Some of the ways are mentioned below:
  1. Sprinkle Talcum Powder: The first way to remove the noise from the hardwood floor is to sprinkle the talcum powder in the slightly squeaking areas. The users can use the tip of a putty knife to fill the squeaking area with the talcum powder. The users then need to walk on the floor surface so that the powder properly works down into the joints.
  2. Use Screws: The users can fix the loose wood pieces under the subfloor by using screws. The users need to drill a hole and then attach the loose pieces by inserting the screws into the holes and fixing the wood planks.
  3. Use Of Wood Shims: If there exists a gap between the subfloor and joist then the user can fix the gap by inserting the wood shims into the gaps. Attach the wood shims tightly with the subfloor so that the floor does not make any noise.
  4. Use Of Rubber Mallet: During the installation, if there remained gaps between the planks then these gaps can be filled by pushing the planks with a rubber mallet into the specified locations.
  5. Use Of Joist Bracket: Another way to remove the noise from the floor surface is by placing the joist bracket under the subfloor.
