Easy Steps For Bringing Back Shine On The Faded Kitchen Cabinets

The cabinets add elegance to any kitchen, bathroom or any other space in your home. But with the span of time the glossy cabinets shine will start to fad away and look dull that doesn't look nice. In order to get the shine back, the user needs to refinish the cabinet. The process of refinishing is not a big task, the user simply needs to follow the below-mentioned steps in order to get the job done.
  1. Ventilation: Before heading to the process, open a window for the ventilation if possible. It is important as this helps to prevent the user from breathing in dangerous chemical fumes used while performing this process, also put on a pair of disposable latex gloves.
  2. Wipe The Cabinet: In this step the user needs to dampen the cloth in the mineral spirit then wipe all the area of the cabinet as this will help to remove all the debris and dirt that has built up. The user can also prepare a solution by mixing a few drops of the oil soap in warm water and wet the cloth with the solution and wipe down the area after that let the cabinet to dry then buff with the dry cloth.
  3. Scratches: Look for the scratches and fill them with the help of the fine tip marker, try to use the marker that resembles to the color of the cabinets as much as possible.
  4. Wax: Now take a clean cloth wrap it around the paste wax to the size of the walnut ball. Then start rubbing the area with the cloth in the circular motion, while rubbing, the wax will start coming out of the cloth, its advisable to apply the wax in a thin layer.
  5. Dry: Let the wax to dry for 15 to 30 minutes depending on the product and weather conditions until it will start looking dull. In case the wax gets fully dry at that time its difficult to remove or buff it. If might the wax gets too much dry then apply the second coat of wax as this will help to loosen the dried wax.
  6. Buffing: Take a clean cloth and start buffing the area in the circular motion, slowly the cabinet will bring its shine back.

Important Tips

  1. To remove scuffs and scratches from wood furniture or cabinets, open a walnut and rub the marks with the nut.
  2. If dried paint is stuck to the cabinet then use the fine steel wool to remove it.
