With the right equipment, it is extremely easy to repair carpet bulges and ridges in just a few hours. Before you start this project, it is important to pull out every piece of furniture from the room.

Things You Will Need

  • Pliers
  • Automatic Carpet Stretcher
  • Knee Kicker
  • Carpet Tool
  • Carpet Cutter

Easy Steps

  1. Stretch The Carpet Toward The Corner: First of all, pull back the carpet as well as a pad from one of the room's corners, at least 2 to 3 feet down both walls. The corner that you are going to choose is based on the direction you will be stretching your carpet. Select a corner across from the bulge in order to make sure that when you stretch the carpet toward the corner, it will flatten. Pull each staple out of the carpet pad with the help of pliers.
  2. Automatic Carpet Stretcher: Place an automatic carpet stretcher on the floor, in opposition to the wall across from the corner where you detached the carpet. With the help of the carpet stretcher's extension tubes, you need to elongate the stretcher's other end straight along the room, & make sure to stop roughly 6 inches from the opposite wall.
  3. Stretch The Carpet Until Ridges Are Gone: Press the carpet stretcher's handle in order to stretch the carpet toward the wall before flattening the bulge as well as ridges in the carpet. Only stretch the carpet as long as the ridges are gone, due to the fact that overstretching will result in tears.
  4. Stretch The Carpet Toward The Loose Corners: Position the carpet stretcher toward the loose corner, before stretching the carpet toward the corner. If your carpet has numerous bulges and ridges, then it is important to loosen two corners, one after the other. Move the carpet stretcher through the opposite wall every 18 inches, & then stretch the carpet toward the loose corners as long as all ridges have been removed.
  5. Place Knee Kicker On The Carpet: Position a knee kicker on the carpet close by the loose corner, at least 3 inches from the wall. Hit the knee kicker with the help of your knee in order to push the carpet toward the wall, and attach or fix it over the tack strip. Move the knee kicker down at least 6 inches and repeat. Continue as long as you have reattached the loose corner to the tack strips.
  6. Stuff The Carpet Between Tack Strip & The Wall: Use a carpet tool in order to stuff the carpet betwixt the tack strip and the wall. Cut the extra carpet off with the help of a carpet cutter.
