How To Fix Bubbles In Vinyl Flooring: Procedure To Repair

Procedure To Fix/Repair Bubbles In Vinyl Flooring

Bubbles can occur in vinyl flooring over time irrespective of the way it was installed. The reason behind the bubbles in vinyl flooring is the air that gets trapped in between the flooring and the surface. The user can fix air bubbles in the vinyl flooring by following the below-given procedure:
  1. Prick Small Bubbles:
In order to fix small bubbles that are an inch or less in size, the user needs to prick the bubbles with a large needle. It has been recommended by the experts to prick through the vinyl flooring and allow the trapped air an escape route.
  2. Flatten The Surface:
After that, the user needs to flatten the bubbled surface. First, the user needs to place a towel on top of the bubbles and then place a hot iron over the towel to heat and flatten the vinyl surface.
  3. Harden The Surface:
Once the bubbles are flattened with heat, the user needs to place a heavy object over the bubbled area such as a stack of books to weight the surface down until it hardens.
  4. Fix Large Bubbles:
In order to fix the bubbles that are more than 1 inch in size, the user needs to flatten the surface first by placing a towel over the bubbles and a hot iron on top of the towel. After that, the user needs to cut the bubbles in X by using a sharp razor knife. Then, the user needs to add floor adhesive under the bubbles and press them down. After that, the user needs to place a waxed sheet over the bubbles followed by a heavy object like a stack of books. The waxed sheet will capture the excess adhesive from the bubbles and a stack of books will help the vinyl flooring to stick flat with the surface.
