How To Fix Body Impressions In Mattress: Step By Step Guide To Fix The Body Impressions

Step By Step Guide To Fix The Body Impressions In The Mattress

The body impressions, as well as the indentations, are not always due to the poor quality of the mattress. Even sometimes the most expensive mattress will develop body impression, the pillow top is mainly supported by the foam that is below it, instead of the coils or box spring. The step by step guide to fix the body impressions in the mattress is mentioned below:

Step 1: Prepping The Mattress

Begin the process by stripping off all the bedding. Keep the dust as well as the allergens from flying all around while fluffing the mattress by vacuuming it using a clean upholstery attachment. In order to prevent the transferring odors to the bed wipe down the attachment before starting, with an antibacterial wipe. Start vacuuming the mattress thoroughly, all around the perimeter as well as at the pillow top that connects to the foam base.

Step 2: Top Filling

With the vacuum attachment in hand, use the vacuum cleaner's suction to pull all the pillow top’s filling back into their place. Start the job all around the perimeter of the body impression, hold down the attachment on one spot long enough so that it will suck up fabric, using the hands pull it up a bit and then release. Repeat this step, all around the body impression, and then slowly towards the center. If required, use the hands to even out all the filling. Try breaking up the clumpy filling using the tips of the fingers, massage the pillow top as well as slowly push it into place using the palms of the hands.

Step 3: Can’t Flip, Rotate

The older mattresses may have the two sides having the coils right in the center that is surrounded by foam filling with the pillow tops which is sandwiching in between. If the user has an old mattress, then it is the best idea to replace it because no amount of fluffing will help to remove the body impressions. If the user has a new two-sided mattress having a pillow top on both of the sides, that time remove all the body impressions by simply flipping the mattress. For the common single-sided mattress, gently rotate it head to foot and manually with the hands fluff the top to remove all the body impressions.

Step 4: Preventing Body Impressions

  • Rotate the bed every two months or flip it twice a year as this will help to prevent body indentations in the mattress. For the two-sided mattress, it is important that the user must rotate the mattress head to foot every time when they flip it.
  • If the user share's the bed with the partner, then try swapping sides after every few months as this will help to even out the wear properly even if they are both similar in sizes, every person sleeps in a different position.
  • When the user will have the bed all to themselves, then go for a similar approach, switching the preferred sleeping side. Outfitting the bed using a padded mattress cover will also help to reduce the appearance of the body impressions. However, this will also help to add to the thickness of the mattress.
