Steps To Repair Bamboo Floors With Water Damage

In order to repair the bamboo floors having got damaged with water, the users need to follow certain steps which are mentioned below:
  1. Standing Water: The first step is to clean off any standing water with the dry rag and carefully assess the damage. In case only finish is affected then rub it off and in case the bamboo is also damaged then the user needs to sand off the finish to get the stain.
  2. Application: Make an application of the mayonnaise with a cigar or with the cigarette ashes in a bowl mix the application well and rub on the affected area so that the surface stain is removed. Rub until the stain is gone then wipe the area with the damp cloth or rag.
  3. Sanding: In order to remove the deeper water stains from the bamboo floors, sand the affected area with the help of the palm sander using 120 grit sandpaper., While sanding protect the baseboard with the masking tape.
  4. Solution: The next step is to make a solution of the oxalic acid and water in a bowl and apply the solution on the affected area with a paintbrush. Let the solution sit on the area for about an hour. If the stain still exists then repeat the process.
  5. Neutralize: Once the stain is removed then clean the oxalic acid by washing the area with the help of the baking soda and water solution after that let the affected area to dry for a night. Once the area is dry then sand it again using 150-grit sandpaper, sand in the directions of a grain.
  6. Polyurethane Finish: At last, apply the coat of polyurethane finish on the affected area with the foam brush. After the first coat dries then sand the area again and apply the second coat.
