How To Fix A Warped Pool Table: Proper Procedure Of Fixing A Warped Pool Table

Proper Procedure Of Fixing A Warped Pool Table

If your pool table is warped or we can say is not smooth, then the repairing process may be very difficult, but it totally depends on the material of the playing surface. Pool tables are composed of different materials such as plywood, slate, etc. Plywood surfaces are considered very less costly and the tables made of plywood can get warped over time. But pool tables made of slate are considered the best option as the tables made from slate can be leveled more easily. The other important element that will decide, whether the warping can be fixed or not, is the way it has warped. It is highly recommended to go through the manufacturer's manual in order to learn about the mechanisms that can be used for leveling your pool table. In order to fix a warped pool table, follow the below-mentioned step by step instructions carefully:
  • First of all, inspect the base plate that intersects the floor first to find out whether you can turn it to level the table or not. If in case there is no base plate, inspect your table for other leveling mechanisms.
  • Now, accommodate any mechanisms included on your table in order to try & get it level.
  • Next, apply four 2-foot-long levels in order to find out the low spot on the playing surface & then position one on both the sides.
  • After that, cleat the side with the help of a wood piece where the levels suggest that it needs uplifting. Rotate a cue ball steadily in different areas of your table in order to examine whether it rolls true or not.
  • Detach the felt covering delicately from the table surface if warping still persists after examining whether the table is level or not.
  • Next, take off the plywood surfaces, which will more often than not be fixed in three large sheets. Position the plywood on a smooth & level surface and water it down with a pipe until it is wet.
  • Value the wood down with large, smooth, heavy stones or other heavyweights and make it dry to get rid of any warping. Restore the leveled boards back in the table and examine whether the surface is smooth enough with levels and a cue ball or not.
  • Finally, again apply the felt cover with the help of a spray adhesive if your surface is level. Examine the surface again after recovering with the felt.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the surface of the pool table is composed of slate, then at that time it cannot warp. You need to go through all the instructions in order to level it.
  • A pool table that is composed of wood is often impossible to level or neaten out once it has warped. It may be the best option not to use the plywood entirely but instead use another wood material.
