Steps To Repair A Swivel Chair Base
A Swivel Chair refers to an office chair that helps the user to work more effectively & comfortably. The chair seat can be turned in different directions without having any effect on the base. Besides that, the user can adjust the height of the chair as per the comfort & requirement. Due to the usage, some complications can occur in the base cylinder system that can be repaired by following the below-given steps;
- Remove Chair Base: The first step will be to place a swivel chair over a flat surface making sure it is in a horizontal position. The fastening clips located at the bottom of the seat had to be removed before taking off the chair base. In case, the chair is attached with nuts or bolts, an appropriate wrench can be used to loosen & remove the chair base.
- Inspect The Chair Interior: After that, the user needs to inspect the chair interior in order to locate the broken or damaged parts that need to be replaced. Besides the gas cylinder, if some other parts of the chair are damaged or broken, it is necessary to replace the parts with correct replacement. It has been recommended to check the manufacturer's manual to determine the appropriate replacement parts.
- Remove Gas Cylinder: The chair's gas cylinder can be removed by using a pipe wrench. First, the user needs to place the wrench onto the gas cylinder and turn it back & forth until the cylinder comes off easily. The user needs not to apply too much force on the removal process as he can end up damaging the other parts of the chair as well.
- Install New Gas Cylinder: The next step will be to purchase a new gas cylinder suited to the repairing swivel chair at any hardware or home improvement store. Once an appropriate gas cylinder is purchased, the user needs to place its tapered end inside the column of the chair from where the existing cylinder was removed.
- Re-Attach The Chair: After installing the new gas cylinder, the user needs to re-attach the base of the chair by using a wrench. The wrench can be used to tighten all the nuts and bolts that were removed earlier. Once the chair is re-attached, the user needs to check the working of a gas cylinder by adjusting the height of the chair.
