Two Easy Ways To Fix Or Repair A Broken Door
The doors are usually very delicate in nature and can be damaged easily. If the door is having the small scratches that may seem to be very hard to repair, the users can easily repair them by following the correct techniques. They can easily fix up the holes or the minute scratches by using the wood filler material. There are two ways by which the users can easily fix a broken door at home and they are mentioned as follows:
Way I- Fixing Up The Crack Or Hole
- Trim The Loose Fragments: Start by trimming up all the baggy or the damaged wood all around the cracked area. This will completely depend on what way the door was battered and there will be baggy fragments at the crack edges. They need to use the utility knife to trim up all the damaged wood so as to make a tidy home that is free from all the unsmooth edges.
- Use The Paper Towels: Then fill up the hole by using the paper towels as the paper towels are not a strong material and will not strengthen up the door but this will hold up the padding foam in one place when it dries off. Stack up some paper towels and then stuff it directly at the sides and at the base of the crack or the hole as well.
- Use The Foam Insulation: Then fill up the paper stuffed hole by using the padding foam and to do so they need to place the spray nozzle directly into the crack and then start spraying smoothly and the spray foam will easily spread and will fill up the entire hole within the door. Allow the foam to get dried off completely for almost one night.
- Trim The Foam: Cut the unneeded insulation foam by using the utility knife and to do so they need to place the utility knife above the foam and then make it even according to the door face.
- Use The Body Filler: In order to attain the strong repair the users can apply the body filler layer and to do so they need to mix up the body filler and the hardener catalyst. Then apply the mixture directly over the cracked area and they can also use the putty knife so as to press down the mixture within the hole. Then allow the material to get dried off completely.
- Use The Spackle Material: If in case the users are not having the body filler material then they can use the spackle material. Scoop some amount of the sparkling material and then fill it within the hole of the door. Then allow the material to get dried off completely.
- Use The Sandpaper: Once the material is dried completely the users need to use the fine-grit sandpaper so as to sand down the repaired area on the door. They need to keep on sanding the area till it becomes smooth and is leveled as per the door surface respectively.
Way II- Repair The Scratched Door
- Use The Sandpaper: Start by using the sandpaper so as to detach the baggy fragments of the wood and paint. Then wipe down the area by using the soft tacky cloth.
- Apply The Wood Filler: Then apply the plentiful amount of the wood filler material directly over the scratched portion of the door. They need to use the putty knife to distribute the wood filler material to the entire scratched area. Then allow the wood filler material to get dried off completely for almost half an hour or sometimes even more than that.
- Sand Down And Clean The Area: Finally use the fine-grit sandpaper so as to sand down the entire repaired area in order to make the smooth and the leveled area respectively. Then clean up the area by using the damp sponge or the tacky cloth.
