Steps To Fix Broken Bed Slat

Here are the easy steps to fix broken bed slat:
  1. Strip: The first step to fix broken bed slat is to remove box springs and mattress from the slat and leave the slat as it is.
  2. Utility Knife: Use utility knife to clean chips or splinters from the bed slat. In order to pry out the frame, insert screwdriver into the crack and pry it out.
  3. Glue: Use tip of glue bottle to inject glue, use thin blade of putty knife to smear glue inside the cracks.
  4. Clamps: After applying the glue, now place bar clamps across the bed slat and apply tight pressure until the glue comes out from the cracks and leave bar clamps for 1 night.
  5. Reinforce The Joint: Now, measure the length of the bed slat then cut a strip of plywood (1/2-inch).
  6. Drill Holes: After, cutting the plywood now use a 3/16-inch bit and drill/driver, to pre-drill the piece of plywood. Randomly place holes about 2inches apart and stagger crew holes.
  7. Glue And Screw: Finally, apply glue on one side of the plywood, then place it on bed slat from inside. Now drive 1inch screws through the plywood board using the holes.
  8. Dry: Allow the bed slat to dry for 1 night before using it for sleeping or relaxing.
