Steps To Distress Furniture With Chalk Paint

Below are given the steps to distress the furniture with chalk paint:
  • Step 1: The first step is to choose the furniture which is to be distressed.
  • Step 2: The next step is to gather the resources like chalk paint, wax brush, lint free cloth, sandpaper, etc.
  • Step 3: Then choose the appropriate workspace for working. The workspace should be ventilated and the floor should be covered so as to protect it from the damage.
  • Step 4: Now start cleaning the furniture and remove all dirt particles from it.
  • Step 5: Then apply a coat of chalk paint on the furniture.
  • Step 6: When the first coat of chalk paint dries completely, give another coat of chalk paint on the furniture.
  • Step 7: Then clean the paint brush with warm and soapy water.
  • Step 8: Now the important step is to distress the furniture. First distress and then apply wax on the furniture. Use sandpaper for distressing and remove all the sanded dust particles from surface of the furniture by using a lint-free cloth.
  • Step 9: Now apply Annie Sloan Soft Wax on the furniture. It protects and seals the paint on the furniture and it dries up to 24 hours.
  • Step 10: If one coat of wax is not sufficient for the furniture than apply another coat of wax on the furniture.
  • Step 11: Then the last step is to clean the wax brush using mineral spirits.
