How To Disinfect Laminate Floors: Steps To Disinfect

Steps To Disinfect Laminate Flooring

Due to regular abuse from spills, shoes, pets & kids, the laminate flooring can get affected by dirt, viruses & bacteria. In order to disinfect the laminate flooring from bacteria & viruses, it has been recommended by the experts to clean the flooring with a solution of white vinegar & water by following the below-given steps;
  1. Vacuum Clean The Flooring: First, the user needs to vacuum the entire laminate flooring in order to remove regular dirt from it. It has been recommended to use hardwood flooring attachment with the vacuum in order to get scratchless cleaning. Alternatively, the user can sweep the flooring with a dust mop to remove regular dirt.
  2. Prepare White Vinegar & Water Solution: The next step will be to prepare a white vinegar & water solution. First, the user needs to pour 1/4 cup of white vinegar and 4 cups of plain water in a spray bottle and then shake the bottle well until the water and vinegar get combined. Alternatively, the user can prepare a similar solution by mixing 1/3 cup of vinegar, 1 gallon of warm water, and a few squirts of liquid dish detergent into a bucket.
  3. Spray The Solution: After that, the user needs to spray the prepared solution over the laminate flooring in small sections. It has been recommended to avoid spraying the entire flooring at once as the user has to wipe off the solution immediately before it starts to remove the protective coating of the laminate flooring.
  4. Wipe Off The Solution: The next step will be to wipe off the sprayed solution from the laminate flooring by using a damp terry cloth or sponge mop. The user needs to wipe off the flooring as soon as the solution has been sprayed over it. Besides that, the user needs to wring out the excess liquid from the terry cloth or sponge mop before using it over the laminate flooring.
  5. Dry The Flooring: Once the laminate flooring is wiped clean with a white vinegar & water solution, the user needs to dry the flooring with a microfiber cloth. A small amount of moisture left over the flooring can be allowed to air dry as it will not damage the laminate flooring.
