How To Disinfect A Used Mattress: Procedure To Disinfect

Procedure To Disinfect A Used Mattress

Disinfect refers to cleaning something in order to remove bacteria from it. The user needs to follow the below-given procedure in order to disinfect a used mattress:
  1. Vacuum The Mattress:
The first step will be to vacuum the entire mattress in order to remove hair, dirt, skin, etc present on the mattress. It has been recommended by experts to use hand-vacuum for easy cleaning.
  2. Use Disinfectant Spray:
Once the mattress is vacuum cleaned, the user needs to spray one side of the mattress with a disinfectant spray. It has been recommended by the experts to slightly damp the mattress and allow it to dry completely. The user can dry the mattress either by placing it outside facing sunlight or by using a fan. Once the first side is completely dry, the user needs to flip the mattress and repeat the step with the other side as well.
  3. Use Fabric Refresher:
The next step will be to flip over the mattress again once the disinfectant spray dries on the other side of the mattress as well. After that, the user needs to spray the first side of the mattress with fabric refresher e.g. Febreze and let it dry completely with sunlight or fan. Once the first side is dry, repeat the step on the other side as well.
  4. Use Mattress Pad:
Once the mattress is entirely dry after it has been sprayed with disinfectant spray and fabric refresher, the user needs to cover the mattress with a mattress pad. The mattress pad protects the user from getting lingering germs, rogue genetic material, and icky skin cells.
