Proper Procedure Of Cutting Travertine Tile Without A Wet Saw

Travertine floor tiles may look very beautiful as well as attractive when laid out nicely. You may need to cut travertine floor tiles, which is an easy task, just like any other type of tile. Travertine is a calcareous rock, exactly the same as marble, however, it is softer, having a pleasant texture and has a huge range of colors. When used as tiling, it may be pure or filled with resin or cement in order to increase its strength as well as minimize porosity. Cutting travertine tile is simple using a powered tile cutter, which will help you in clean cuts with no chipping.
  1. Fill The Water Reservoir With Cold Water: First of all, you need to fill the water reservoir with cold water, underneath the tile cutter worktable. When you fill water reservoir correctly, the lower section of the cutting disc will be soaked in the water.
  2. Adjust The Cutting Guide: Now, enhance the cutting guide, an adjustable metal bar moving from the front of the worktable to the back, in order to achieve the desired distance from the cutting blade. For instance, if you are looking to eliminate 2 inches from the width of the travertine tile, then you need to set the cutting guide in a way that it is 2 inches from the cutting disc. Likewise, if you are looking to cut the tile in half, then set the width of the guide to half-a-tile from the cutting disc.
  3. Switch On The Tile Cutter: Next, switch on the tile cutter before waiting for the cutting disc to reach its full speed. This is successfully accomplished as soon as the noise from the wheel reaches a constant pitch.
  4. Check Whether Water Reservoir Is Working Or Not: Check whether the water reservoir is working or not and that cutting disc is wet before moving forward, the spray from the disc should be clear, self-evident, or apparent. If it isn't, then switch off and again check the water reservoir. Once the disc is wet, take down the safety guard if one is fitted. Place the travertine tile flat on the worktable before holding the side that you are looking to cut in opposition to the cutting guide.
  5. Complete The Cut & Switch Off The Power: Take hold of the tile by the edge nearest to you, and smoothly move it toward the cutting disc. Keep guiding it forward as the disc cuts into the tile. When done correctly, the pressure is just enough to keep the disc cutting into the tile without making it to slow down. Keep easing the tile forward as long as the cut is completed. Smoothly move the uncut side of the tile away from the cutting disc, before finally switching off the power.
