  • Upholstery Foam & Cotton Batting
  • Staple Gun & Staples
  • Straight Pins & Sewing Machine

Procedure For This Process

After collecting all the required items, now you need to follow all the given steps and also, read the useful tip & warning for this process:
  • Check out your bar stool conscientiously to see if the seat & back comes off. They consistently do, which makes upholstering them much effortless. Put any screws or bolts & nuts in a safe place when you remove your bolts & nuts.
  • Cut substantial the seams of the actual upholstery fabric so that each piece comes off unblemished.
  • Remove the extant cotton batting & foam by cutting through it with your scissor.
  • Now you need to cut your new foam to fit the seat & back of your bar stool. Scissors will work for thin foam, but if your old foam was more than four inches chunky, an electric sculpt knife works better.
  • Coat your seat & the front of your seatback with a light drizzle of the spray adhesive. Now line your foam up conscientiously and then press it into actual place.
  • Now you need to cut your cotton batting to about 4 inches larger than your seat & back. Center it over your foam. Pull the top of your batting over the top of your backrest, and then you need to put a staple in the center of the edge.
  • Repetition for your bottom & sides. Work out from your staples to the corners of the backrest, pulling your batting taut & smooth and then stapling it. Repeat for your seat, stapling your batting to the underside of your seat.
  • Iron your old fabric to straighten it out. Lay your pieces out on your new fabric & pin them in place. Cut your pieces out. Also, remove your pins.
  • Pin the new pieces of your fabric together with the wrong side out. Fit it over your back & seat of your barstool. Make any readjustment to the fit.
  • Now you need to sew your new fabric pieces together and leave the bottom of your seatback fabric open. Your seat may only require 1 piece of your fabric & no sewing. Just be sure that your needle is enough large to handle your thick fabrics or you can also use a ball needle if you are going to use a knit. Trim any diverge thread ends.
  • Turn your fabric right side out & then fit it over your backrest. Staple the open bottom to the underside of the backrest and folding your new fabric under in order to make a clean seam.
  • Drape your fabric over the seat & staple it on all 4 sides. You need to work out from the center staples to secure your fabric to the underside of your seat.
  • Finally, you need to reattach the seat & back to your frame.

Tip & Warning

  • Tip: You need to use a blowdryer to heat your vinyl and help it shrink to fit your seat & back tightly.
  • Warning: You need to know that never cut out your new fabric until you have measured it twice & checked to see if your pattern is facing in the right direction on every piece.
