How To Clean Vinyl Blinds: Four Best Ways Of Cleaning Vinyl Blinds

Four Best Ways Of Cleaning The Vinyl Blinds

The vinyl blinds that are used in greasy areas, such as in a kitchen, require a bit more type of cleaning than blinds which are simply dusty. The best options for cleaning the vinyl blinds are as follows:

Way 1: Vacuuming

Vacuuming the blinds first will easily help to remove any debris that is on the slats. An upholstery brush attachment is the best option to loosen the materials on the blinds. Close down the blinds in one direction, like turning the lowest part of the blind, then start vacuuming the blinds, including the framework, which holds the blinds to the window. Open the blinds and then close them and then turn on another side and vacuum them once again. The vacuuming process is the same for the vertical blinds, only except the left or right side of the faces of the blind in on opening or closing them.

Way 2: Dusting

Vacuuming will help to remove a lot of the loose as well as dry debris, but may not help to remove it all. Dust the blinds using a feather duster or wipe them down with the help of a microfiber dust mitt or with the blind-cleaning wand to pick up even more small and loose dust. Dust the corners as well as the edges of the window frame as well. Otherwise, their dust may end up on Vinyl blinds. Wipe down both sides of the vinyl blinds by opening the first one way, then the other, same as in vacuuming.

Way 3: Wet-Cleaning

Dusting as well as vacuuming the blinds will not help to remove the greasy buildup, but soapy water will do that. Simply, add a squirt of mild dishwashing liquid to a bucket with warm water. Close down the blinds so all the slats face down towards the user. Take an old towel and roll it up to catch up the water on the window sill as well as on the floor in front of the window, then dip a sponge in the soapy water solution and wipe down each slat but individually, start from the top. Then re-dip the sponge into the water and wring excess water out of the sponge to avoid drips. Wipe down the blinds again using a soft, damp cloth afterward. After that, close the blinds on the other way and then wipe them down again with the soapy water, in the same way, followed by the damp cloth.

Way 4: Bathtub Treatment

The blinds that seem too grimy to clean, the bathtub may be used to clean them. Raise up the blinds as high as possible, then remove them from the holder that keeps them in place. To allow the blinds to come out, the user may have to slide away from a cover on the holder. Keep them in the tub and then add enough water to merge or cover the blinds, add a few drops of dish soap, and also a gallon of white vinegar to cut all the grease. Wipe down any greasy areas with a sponge, then drain the tub. After that rinse them using a shower wand, or simply by pouring cups of water over them. Close them in one direction and let it dry with a soft cloth then close the blinds in the other way and dry the exposed side of the blinds.
