How To Clean Venetian Blinds While Hanging: Two Easy Ways & Items Required

Two Easy Ways & Items Required To Clean Venetian Blinds While Hanging

If you want to clean your Venetian blinds without removing them, then you need to collect a few required items and then go through given two easy ways with steps. Here is the list of required items and two easy ways for this process:

Things You Will Need For This Process

  1. Dusting Mitt, Cloth, Or Another Tool
  2. Garbage Bag & Water
  3. Dish Soap
  4. Vacuum With Hose
  5. Dusting Or Upholstery Brush Attachment

Way 1: Clearing Dust Off Blinds

  1. Firstly, take a cotton glove or any other soft dusting tool. Gloves allow you to reach around your Venetian blinds by your hand but you can also use an old sock. You can also use a clean & soft cloth or any type of fabric piece.
  2. Now run your fingers lightly over the slats and accessories of your blinds. Start with the center of each slat & work on the edges. Finish one side & then go back to the blind center and work on the other side.
  3. You have to do this step for each blind slat but this is not the fastest process but it will remove plenty of dust. Press as softly as possible on your blinds & don't squeeze while you brush across the slats edges.
  4. Now change or clean your duster to avert leaving any dust on the slats of the blinds. That dust has to go elsewhere, and eventually, it is going to fill your cloth or glove. Take it outside & then shake it out to release any dust.
  5. Stick your glove or duster in it, and shake off the dust in a plastic bag. Do this step each time when your duster looks dirty to avert putting dust back on your blinds when you clean them.
  6. Flip your blinds around to clean the other side of it. Use the roller on your blinds to invert them. Adjust your slats so you are able to see the back ends of the blinds, which commonly face your window. Then you need to use your dusting tools to repeat the cleaning steps. Wipe off each individualist slat as well as the pull cord and the other accessories of your blinds.

Way 2: Vacuum

  1. First of all, you need to attach a duster brush or upholstery brush to the vacuum cleaner. You have to use a vacuum cleaner with a hose in order to reach your blinds. Simply stick your brush attachment into the vacuum cleaner nozzle at the end of the hose.
  2. Use your duster brush if the vacuum came with one since it's compelling & soft on exquisite surfaces like blinds. Upholstery brushes are larger but still work best on your blinds.
  3. Hold your blinds securely still while you vacuum it. Even if you have the right vacuum cleaning attachment still take no risk when vacuuming your blinds. Hang onto your slats as you move your vacuum cleaner along each one. You can directly grip the end of your slat to do this step. As you move along your slat, simply shift to the other side of your blinds to keep it steady.
  4. Move your vacuum cleaner from the center to the other sides of your slats. Always follow the direction of your slats. For your Venetian blinds, it means that you need to move your vacuum hose to the left & right. Work one slat at a time, starting in the center with each pass. Go back over each blind until it is clean.
  5. Finally you need to open & reverse your slats to clean the underside of your blinds. Use your turning rod to spin your slat all the way around. If you see that there is any dust & dirt on the side facing your window too, then it is a good time to take care of it. Simply go back over each slat for few times with your vacuum cleaner, always remember to work from the center of your slats with each pass.

Tips For This Process

  • You need to carry a pair of socks, one pair for each hand. Use one pair to scrub your blinds and the other pair to dry your blinds.
  • Always remember to get rods, cords, and the other accessories on your blinds. They can easily be cleaned in the same manner as you do with your blinds slats.
