How To Clean The Inside Of A Double Pane Window: Different Options Of Cleaning The Inside Of A Double-Pane

Different Options Of Cleaning The Inside Of A Double-Pane Window

The double-pane windows actually use the 2 pieces of the glass that are created with the airtight seal in between them. This seal is designed in a way that it will lock the air in to act as an insulator. If in case the water or the dirt will start to build up inside two panes, then this means the seal has been broken. The different options for cleaning the inside of the double-pane window are mentioned below:

Drilling Holes

The first option that the user can go for is drilling one or two holes in the window that will allow the user to tuck a desiccate packet in the drilled space which will help a lot absorb any of the moisture which has stored there or can rinse out with isopropyl alcohol if in case there is the dirt inside. The steps for drilling the hole are mentioned below:
  1. Fix a 1/8 inch bit of the metal to drill for drilling tiny holes in the frame of the window which must be close to the inside pane. The user must place a cup of the cool water handy as this is for dipping the bit at the time it heats up. Drill at least 2 holes on the inside frame of the window that is opposite to each other, drill the holes one at the bottom, and the other one at the top of the frame.
  2. Cut out the 2 lengths of the tubing of plastic that must be small enough so that they will fit into the holes that are drilled. Take one of the tubes and then insert it into the hole that is at the top of the frame as well as the tube in another hole at the bottom. Use enough tubing so that they will extend into the middle of panes exactly in the area under the 2 panes.
  3. In the top tube now the user needs to insert a small funnel. Pour some of the window cleaners in the tube while at the same time holding the tube in a way that it will aim the flow to the dirty windows directly. Continue the job until all the windows are cleaned.
  4. At the bottom of the frame, the user needs to extend the tube in the plastic milk jug placed below the window frame. Siphon all the liquid that is dirty out from the space which is between the 2 window panes exactly in the jug then discard the liquid, remove both of the tubings and then leave the window to dry completely. Cover-up the holes with the help of the clear packing tape.

Without Drilling

If in case the moisture on the window is the only problem and there is no dirt, the user can easily try to clean the moisture without drilling. Place a dehumidifier exactly near the window. The owner can place either a dehumidifier machine or simply a dehumidifier that is used in the small room if the dehumidifier is not available then the homemade option is the container of charcoal briquettes having a few holes that are made in the lid of the container. On all along with the bottom edge place a moisture absorber like a water snake or just a few desiccates packets. Also, position a space heater near the effected window or aim a hairdryer at it. This can help to evaporate the water.

Other Options

If rinsing off space to remove the dirt buildup is not enough, that time the owner will need a device for threading into the hole that is used for wiping it out. This can be either a pair of the wool pantyhose that are on a drain snake or it can be a sock duct-taped that is onto a piece of the wire. The user must tie a long string exactly onto the end of the handle of the drain snake or wire in case they got dropped accidentally, so the user can use this string to pull it up back. Another option that can be used in place of the rinsing the window is to position a fan on it after the holes are drilled in the seal. This will help a lot in increasing the airflow between both the panes as well as also allow any of the moisture to evaporate. The important point to know is that it will only remove the moisture not any dirt.
