Methods Of Cleaning Clean Suede Couch

Suede Couch refers to a leather couch made of fuzzy leather which has a napped finish. There are several methods by which a suede couch can be cleaned and maintained and the methods are given below:

Weekly Cleaning:

The first method will be to clean the suede couch weekly by following the below given steps:
  1. Remove Cushions:
    The first step will be to remove all the couch cushions every week or so by which the user can collect all the papers, crumbs, and other bit pieces that have fallen through the cracks.
  2. Use Vacuum Or Dust Brusher:
    The next step will be to vacuum the whole couch or use a dust brusher in order to remove debris & dust that can't be removed by hand.
  3. Wipe The Cushions Down:
    In the next step, the user needs to wipe down the cushions using a terry cloth towel or dust brush. The user needs to clean the underside of cushions as well for removing the remaining debris.
  4. Rotate The Cushions:
    Once the cushions are cleaned, the user needs to rotate the cushions of the couch if the cushions are similar otherwise accordingly. The process helps to even out the wear.
  5. Use Napping Brush:

Monthly Cleaning:

The second method will be to clean the suede couch monthly by following the below given steps:
  1. Remove The Cushions:
    The first step in the monthly cleaning will be the same as weekly cleaning in which the user needs to remove the cushions from the suede couch and place them at a clean area on the floor.
  2. Dust Bust Or Vacuum The Cushions:
    The next step in the process will be to dust bust or vacuum the cushions using the criss-cross pattern that helps in removing the remained debris from the folds of the suede.
  3. Vacuum The Couch:
    The next step in the monthly cleaning will be to vacuum the rest of the couch following the same criss-cross pattern. The cleaning should start from arms and then following the way towards the legs.
  4. Rub Down Or Brush The Couch:
    The next step will be to rub down the couch using suede rubbing cloth or brush it down with suede nap brush. The step helps in restoring & polishing the luster of the couch.
  5. Rub Down Or Brush Each Cushion:
    The next step will be to repeat the above step on to each cushion separately but the user needs to make sure that each side of the cushion is polished in order to eliminate any pet dander or lingering debris.
  6. Rotate Cushions:
    The last step will be to rotate the cushions if possible otherwise place the cushions accordingly.

Stain Removing:

The third method will be to remove the stain from the suede couch for which the user needs to follow the below mentioned steps:
  1. Rub The Stain:
    The first step in the process will be to rub the stain using a polishing cloth or a suede brush. By doing so, the user will prepare the area for cleaning by removing dust & debris from it.
  2. Rubbing Alcohol:
    The next step will be to moisten the terry cloth rag with white vinegar and lightly dab the stained part of the couch. The user needs to make sure not to over-saturate the stain mark.
  3. Rub The Stain With Eraser:
    The last step will be to rub the stain gently using a special suede eraser or a pencil eraser in order to remove the stain. For extra stubborn stains, it has been recommended to use a piece of sandpaper and run it lightly on to the stain in a criss-cross pattern.

Suede Couch Protection:

The fourth method is to protect a suede couch with a protective spray for which the user needs to follow the below given steps:
  1. Use Protective Spray:
    The first step will be to use a protective spray on to the couch that will be safe to use on the suede couch. Although the spray doesn't provide foolproof protection to the couch rather it helps in preventing spills from becoming permanent stains.
  2. Work In Well Ventilated Area:
    The experts recommend spraying the suede couch in an extremely well-ventilated area because the fumes that are emitted from the aerosol spray can be harmful to the human body in many ways and it is better to avoid as many fumes as possible.
  3. Work Section Wise:
    Also, it has been recommended to use protective spray section wise on to the couch which means the user needs to spray one section at a time and wait till the fresh air is filled into the room before proceeding to another section. Repeat the procedure until each section gets 2 to 3 coats of spray.
  4. Let The Couch Dry:
    Before putting the couch to use, the user needs to wait for at least 12 hours or wait until the time mentioned on the label.
