How To Clean Sticky Wood Kitchen Cabinets: Steps To Clean

Steps To Clean Sticky Wood Kitchen Cabinets

The sticky residue on wood kitchen cabinets usually occurs due to cooking grease and dirt. The other reason could be that the residue is left by some cleaners used on the kitchen cabinets. The sticky residue doesn't only look unappealing but it can also damage the wooden kitchen cabinets. It has been recommended by the experts to use a natural cleaning process in order to remove such sticky residue rather than using any chemical cleaner that can damage the finish and leave more residues on to the kitchen cabinets. The steps to follow in order to remove sticky residue from wood kitchen cabinets are as under:
  1. Clean The Cabinets:
The first step will be to clean the dust and dirt from the kitchen cabinets for which the user needs to prepare a solution by mixing two cups of warm water with a few drops of dish soap. Then, the user needs to soak a sponge into the solution and wipe down entire cabinets with it. The user needs to clean handles, hinges, knobs, crevices, and cracks with the solution as well. After that, the user needs to soak the sponge in clean water and thoroughly rinse the cabinets with it that includes handles, knobs, and hinges.
  2. Apply Vinegar:
The next step will be to scrub sticky residue areas of the cabinets with a sponge dampened in vinegar. The user needs to dip a sponge into a bowl of vinegar, wring out excess vinegar, and then scrub the sticky residue areas with it. The sponge needs to be rubbed over handles, knobs, and hinges as well. After that, the user needs to remove the traces of vinegar from the kitchen cabinets including hardware with a sponge dampened with clean water.
  3. Prepare Baking Soda Paste:
In order to remove the stubborn sticky residue that cannot be removed with vinegar, the user needs to prepare a thick paste by mixing equal parts of baking soda and water in a bowl. In order to make the paste thick, the user can add extra baking soda to the mixture. The paste thickness can be determined by the fact that it should not drip down the cabinets.
  4. Apply Baking Soda Paste:
The next step after that will be to apply baking soda paste over the sticky areas of the kitchen cabinets with a clean cloth or sponge. The user needs to make sure that the paste covers the sticky areas completely.
  5. Remove Baking Soda Paste:
Once the paste dries over the sticky residue, the user needs to scrub it afterward with a soft bristled brush dampened in clean water. In order to remove traces of baking soda paste from the wooden kitchen cabinets, the user needs to rinse the cabinets with a sponge dampened in clean water.
  6. Reapply Baking Soda Paste:
For remaining sticky residue, the user needs to reapply baking soda paste over such areas and then remove it as mentioned above. Once the sticky residue is completely removed, the user can dry the wood kitchen cabinets with a clean dry towel.
