Ways To Clean Stained Hardwood Floors

Hardwood floors can last for years if they are properly cared and maintained. Removing stains from hardwood floors is a part of the maintenance process. There are several types of stains that can affect the hardwood flooring and the stains can be eliminated when dealt early. The ways to clean different types of stains are as follows:
  1. Sweep The Floor:
    Cleaning dust & debris from the flooring is a part of each stain removal process as it helps the user to deal with the stain directly rather than the dirt present on top of the stain. The step also helps the user to examine as well as determine the nature of the stain and its removal process.
  2. Use Detergent:
    In order to remove some mild stains, the user needs to prepare a mixture in a bucket containing warm water and mild detergent. After that, the user needs to dip a clean cloth in a mixture and wring out excess liquid from it followed by rubbing the cloth on to the stained area.
  3. Use Denatured Alcohol:
    In case some lighter stain remains, the user can remove it with denatured alcohol. First, the user needs to pour a small amount of denatured alcohol on a cloth and rub it on to the remaining stain until it disappears completely. After that, the user needs to dip a second clean cloth in warm water, wring out excess liquid from it, and then rub the cloth on the hardwood flooring area where denatured alcohol was used in order to remove the alcohol.
  4. Use Commercial Wood Floor Cleaner:
    In order to remove ink, non-greasy food, fruit juice, and alcoholic beverages stains from the hardwood flooring, the user needs to prepare a stronger solution. The solution can be prepared by mixing one-gallon warm water and a cup of commercial wood-floor cleaner in a bucket. After that, the user needs to dip a microfiber mop in a solution, wring out excess liquid from it, and then mop the stained area in order to remove the stain. In case the stain remains, the user can switch to the next step.
  5. Use White Vinegar:
    The next step will be to prepare a solution by mixing cold water and a cup of white vinegar in a bowl. The user needs to dampen a cloth in a solution and then rub the stained area with it. As soon as the stain gets removed, the user needs to clean the vinegar from the hardwood flooring with a wet cloth.
  6. Use Ammonia:
    Blood, Iodine, and Grease stains can be removed with a solution containing a cup of cold water and a cup of ammonia. The user needs to dampen a cloth in a solution and rub it on to the stained area. In case the stain cannot get off easily, the user needs to saturate a cloth in a solution and rub it over the stained area again. It is recommended by the experts to spread a cloth over the stained area until the stain gets off completely. The traces of Ammonia need to be removed from hardwood flooring with a clean cloth dampened in plain water.
  7. Use Scouring Powder:
    The fresh pet urine stains can be cleaned from the hardwood flooring with a cloth dampened in hot water along with some scouring powder. The second cloth dampened with hot water can be used to clean powder from the stained area.
    In order to remove stubborn urine stains, the user can prepare a solution containing 10 cups of hot water and one cup of liquid bleach. The user needs to dampen a clean cloth in a solution and rub it over the stained area. Once the stain gets off the hardwood flooring, the user needs to wipe away the traces of bleach with a clean damp cloth.
