The lifespan of shower doors is near about 20-30 years if cared properly but the shower doors need regular cleaning. If you want to clean your shower doors, you just need to follow all the given steps one by one carefully:
  1. Decide Cleaner: Firstly, you need to decide whether you want to use commercial, non-toxic or homemade cleaner. Many commercial home cleaning solutions are highly effective to keep your shower door, tiles and drain in well and sparkling conditions. On the other hand, they are so hazardous to humans, due to the fact that they can sometimes cause serious respiratory issues. You can use a number of non-toxic cleaners as they can be much effective and harmless to get used. Most of the companies did not publish the ingredients on the cleaner.
  2. Lemon: You can also use lemon in order to clean shower doors, which can assist you to keep your door away from the streaks. Dip lemon(half) in baking soda before rubbing it on the shower doors. The acid which is produced when lemon reacts with baking soda makes sudsy foam. Oil can also be used to rub on the door which will help it to repel the water and you will see that the soap doesn't dry on the door.
  3. Spray: Use a shower spray which you make at your home. You can make your own spray on the cheap rates and without the harsh chemicals. Mix one cup of water with a half cup of vinegar, a little dish soap. You can also use 10-20 drops of essential oil for good smell. Keep it in the shower and spray on the door whenever you wish to do so.
  4. Fabric Softener Sheet: Next you need to get rid of scum and mineral stains. A Fabric softener sheet or magic eraser helps you to erase the mineral stain easily. Simply wipe a damp dryer sheet on it. But remember this thing didn't work always. Be careful some dryer sheets leave cent over the door.
  5. Scrub: For scrubbing process use warm vinegar as it is easy to remove the light stains with the help of soap water. You can use white vinegar for the tough stains. Now take a half cup of vinegar(warm) and keep it in the microwave for 30 - 40 seconds. Now use it to clean the rag. Soak it for 5 minutes and rinse off with the warm water.
  6. Hydrogen Peroxide: You can also use hydrogen peroxide in order to clean your shower doors. Simply spray it onto the mold by using a spray bottle and then let the hydrogen sit for at least 3-5 minutes and then dry it by using a clean towel. No need to scrub it but remember you need to repeat this step for 2-3 times.
  7. Diluted Chlorine: Diluted chlorine will also work when it comes to cleaning your shower doors but you need to know that this bleach will harm your skin, lungs, and your eyes. Simply spray the cleaning product which contains 4 to 6% chlorine bleach on the door and then let it sit for few minutes and then wipe off but be careful never try to mix bleach and vinegar together as they will create a toxic gas and dilute concentrated bleach itself.
  8. Caulk: If you found that the mold on the shower doors cannot be wiped off, it has the toughest stain on the surface, at that time you can easily use the caulk with the help of a putty knife or utility knife. Now you need to clean the area with the help of hydrogen peroxide or bleach, and then rub alcohol with a clean cloth on it. Now be sure that you ventilate your bathroom for at least 24 hours to entirely dry the surface, then after checking the dry surfaces you can put a fresh caulk with the help of caulk gun.
  9. Prevention Tool: Shower cleaning is a good prevention tool for your shower door. After using the shower, wipe water soap off from the doors of the shower. This will help you to avert your shower from water spots and soaps scums. You can also spray the tracks of the bathroom with 50:50 solution of water and vinegar with the help of old toothbrush or cotton swab to scrub out the inside of the tracks.
  10. Ventilated Area And Dry: You have to turn on the fan while taking the shower or open the windows as this will help you to prevent your shower doors from moisture.
