Steps To Clean Outdoor Cushions And Furniture With Mildew

One of the best ways to keep outdoor furniture in new and top-notch condition is to remove mildew. It develops easily in a dark, damp, and warm environment in the form of mold. Mildew has many harmful effects not only to the furniture but also to the health, it can cause discoloration of the furniture. The method of removing the mildew will depend on the material of the furniture. Once it is removed then the furniture should be maintained regularly keeping it dry as much as possible. The patio furniture can be made from different material, below are the methods to mildew for almost every material:
  1. Removing Mildew From Wood: For the wooden patio furniture make a solution by mixing the 1 cup ammonia, 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup white vinegar, into 1 gallon of clean water, then use the application with the sponge or cloth and then rub the area.
  2. Wicker: First of all, wipe the wicker furniture with mild soap water, for the small spaces use the garden hose.
  3. Metal Surfaces: This material is the easiest and safest to clean, it can be simply cleaned with mild soap and water.

Cushions:

Fabric Cushions:
In order to clean the fabric cushions mix 1/2 cup of bleach into 1 gallon of water. Pour the mixture in the spray bottle and spray on the spot rub with the scrub brush, then rinse with water.
Acrylic Cushions:
If the cushions are acrylic, then mix 2 cups of detergent and 1 cup bleach into a gallon of water. Then apply with a spray bottle. Let it dry for about 30 minutes before rinsing with clean water.
