Three Easy Parts & Items Needed To Clean The Old Feather Pillows

The feather pillows are usually soft and luxurious and that is why the users need to take good care of these types of pillows while cleaning them. Part I- Washing The Feather Pillows

  • Detach The Pillowcase: The users needs to start by detaching the pillow out of their pillowcase and even if the pillow is placed inside the protector they need to detach it from that as well.
  • Sew Up The Rips Or Holes: Then they need to examine the feather pillows for any kind of holes or the rips and if they find out any rips or the holes then they are advised to sew them accordingly.
  • Wash The Pillows: Then they need to place the 2 pillows directly inside the washing machine as the 2 pillows will help in balancing the water inside the machine. Then the user needs to pour the generous amount of the mild detergent and then set the delicate cycle of the machine and also pour the hot water into it. The hot water helps in killing up all the mites that might be living within the pillow. Then let the machine start gently and then spin up these pillows accordingly so as to ooze out all the soap residue and the unneeded moisture as well.

Part II- Drying Up The Feather Pillows

  • Use The Towels: The users need to start by oozing out all the water from the feather pillows by using the dry towel and to do so they need to place the feather pillow in between the 2 towels and then gently press it downwards. The dry towels will soak up all the moisture from the pillows accordingly.
  • Using The Dryer: The users can also make their pillows dry by placing it inside the dryer and to do so they need to select the delicate cycle of the dryer and put the machine on the low heat setting as this will help the pillows to get dried off fastly. The users are advised to add some of the dryer balls inside the machine as this will help to keep the feather pillows fluffy and if in case the users are not having any dryer balls then they can easily use the tennis balls

Part III- Cleaning Up The Mildew And The Bad Odors

  • Treat The Yellow Stained Pillows: Start by adding one cup of the hydrogen peroxide and the half cup of the white vinegar to treat the yellow pillows and to do so they need to set the machine on the soak cycle and then add this mixture directly into the machine and place the pillows as well. Allow the pillows to soak this mixture in the machine and once the cycle is finished the users need to add the mild detergent to it respectively.
  • Treat The Bad Odor: The users need to add the half cup of the baking soda in the washer or the user can also add it with the detergent to treat the bad odors of the pillows. The baking soda also helps in treating the stains on the feather pillows.
  • Treat The Mildew Or Mold: The users need to add one cup of the white vinegar with the detergent in the washer so as to clean up the mildew or the mold on the feather pillows. The white vinegar also helps to treat the bad odor.
  • Use The Essential Oil: The users can also add the few drops of the lavender, vanilla or the rosemary oil in the washer as this will help in giving the leather pillow a subtle and nice smell.
