How To Clean Linen Lamp Shades: Steps And Items Needed

Steps And Items Needed To Clean Linen Lamp Shades

The linen lampshades add an elegant touch to your room, but your linen lampshade will easily collect dust & dirt just like any other fabric lampshade. Most fabric lampshades can be absorbed in water but the linen fabric shades should be kept dry if it is possible. If you want to clean your linen lampshade then you just need to collect some required items and follow all the given steps to finish cleaning your lampshade. Here is the list of required items and steps for this process:

Things You Will Need

  • Vacuum Cleaner & Clean, Dry House Painting Brush
  • Mild Soap, Water, Sink & Soft Brush
  • Clean Cloths, Bath, Sponge & String

Steps For This Process

  • First of all, you need to remove your linen lampshade from its fitting. Vacuum your linen lamp shade inside & out with a brush attachment. Make sure to follow the fabric grain in order to vacuum your lampshade. If this is the only way to clean that your linen fabric shade requires then put it back on the lamp or light fitting.
  • If you are unable to disconnect your linen shade from the fitting, a new paintbrush will easily lift any dust from your fabric fibers. Take your brush outside 1 or 2 times during cleaning to remove the assemble dust.
  • Spot-clean your linen lampshade by using mild soap and water solution to create foamy bubbles in your sink. Scoop up some foam on your soft brush and then apply to the stain. Gently brush the stain by using the circular motion.
  • Wipe off any bubbles with the help of a damp cloth and allow to dry entirely. Next, you need to vacuum any leftover dried soap by using the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner.
  • Run a bath of warm water just a few inches deep with a little mild soap added. Vacuum your linen shade to remove any loose dust & disassemble any trimmings. Lay your linen shade sideways in the clean water. Rotate calmly the shade, sponging your fabric as you turn it.
  • Finally you need to drain the water & then rinse your linen shade thoroughly. Next, you need to press your clean towel over your fabric to soak up any extra water from it. Tie a piece of string to the frame of your shade and then hang it over your shower curtain rod or you can also hang it on a clothesline to dry wholly.
