Steps And Items Needed

Grease stains that mostly come from cooking & oil sprays can accrue on your cabinet doors, exclusively those located above or around your stove. Over time, grease stain can be very hardened on cabinet doors and become difficult to clean & remove. Prompt cleaning of grease stain should be considered routine cleaning for your cabinets. Collect all the given items and follow the given steps:

Things You Will Need

  • Formula 409 (Or Fantastik Or White Vinegar)
  • Baking Soda
  • Murphy's Oil Soap
  • Sponge & Warm Water

Steps For This Process

  1. First of all, you have to wipe fresh grease from your cabinet doors with the help of your damp sponge & liquid solution(grease-cutting dish). Now you need to rinse with the help of a clean & damp sponge & then dry it by using an absorbent cloth or you can also use a paper towel.
  2. Another easy way, remove thicker grease from your cabinet doors by simply spreading a solution of water (warm) baking soda & (3 tbsp of baking soda and 1 cup of warm water) over the grease stain with the help of a sponge & lightly agitating it. Wipe your cabinet doors by using your damp sponge & then dry it with a clean & absorbent towel.
  3. You can also clean any older grease buildup by simply applying vinegar(white) or spraying Fantastik or you can also use formula 409 on the grease & wiping with the help of a paper towel. Rinse your cabinet doors by using a damp sponge, and then dry with an absorbent cloth or paper towel.
  4. In order to clean grease off doors, you can also rub the murphy's oil soap on any stubborn & hardened grease with the help of a clean cloth & then wipe it with your damp sponge. Dry the doors with an absorbent cloth or paper towel.
  5. Remove any long-standing and hardened grease with the help of a solvent such as turpentine, lemon oil, mineral spirits.
  6. Open your nearby windows for well-ventilation and then dab your solvent delicately onto the grease stain with your paper towels until almost removed. Do not allow your solvent to precisely contact wood surfaces because it can easily remove finishes.
  7. Repeat Step 4 above to wholly remove the remainder of grease from the cabinet doors.

Tip & Warning

  • Tip: Avert using the dishcloths when cleaning grease from your cabinet doors because, even if your door is clean, they may still contain debris of grease or cleansing agents.
  • Warning: Never use any cleaning products that contain abrasives, bleach, ammonia or silicone. Also, do not use the sandpaper, scouring pads, steel wool, or any other abrasive materials to clean your cabinet doors because it will damage the surface. Follow the manufacturer's precautions when using a solvent.
