Two Methods And Items Needed To Clean Fabric Vertical Blinds

The fabric vertical blinds have an advantage over the curtains because you can easily replace damaged & faded slats separately instead of replacing the entire curtain. Unlike curtains, any types of fabric blinds are not washable and this can make keeping the fabric blinds clean a difficult task. If you want to clean your fabric vertical blinds, no matter washable or nonwashable, then you just need to collect all the given items and then follow the given methods according to the type of fabric blinds. Non-Washable Blinds

  1. In order to clean your non-washable blinds, first you need to brush away the dust, dirt & lint by using any soft brush. The baby brush is also useful in this type of cleaning process because the baby brush is so soft and it will not snag even delicate the fabrics. Start your work from top-down but no to dislodge any panel.
  2. Vacuum your blinds for once in a whole month, using the upholstery brush attachment on your vacuum. Support your blinds with your free hand as you work from the top of each blind slat down.
  3. Clean spots by dampening your clean, lint-free towel like a white linen dish towel by using a dime-size dollop of dry cleaner’s spot treatment on your blind. Test a less-visible part of your blinds to be sure that the spot remover will not also take out your fabric dye. Blot the stain affected area with the dampened cloth until the stain has been disappeared fully.

Washable Blinds

  1. Fill your bathtub with at least 4 inches to 6 inches of water(lukewarm). Splash in 2 tbsp of mild detergent specially made for the type formulated lingerie and another type of delicate fabrics. Swish the water around with the hand to mix the detergent into the water.
  2. Next you need to close your blinds. Remove all the slats from the hangers of it and then lay them flat in the water (warm). You can use your hands or any baby brush to lightly wipe away any dust & dirt. Let your blinds to soak for at least 30 to 45 minutes.
  3. Prepare your floor underneath your blind track by placing some folded towels along with it while your blinds are soaking in the water. Drain your bathtub and then again refill it with cool water for 2-3 times.
  4. It is very important to get all of the detergents out of your blinds, because if it dries on the blinds then the dust will easily stick to it.
  5. Next, pick up your blind slats one at a time and then you need to shake them mildly until no more water runs from them. Hold each one slat over a bucket to keep from departure a trail of drips when you carry the slats back to the window.
  6. Rehang your blind slats in the full spread out position and then let them dry for near about 45 minutes before opening your blind & crowding them up against each other.
