Way I: Washing The Bamboo Cutting Board

  • Wash The Board: Start by washing the cutting board within the soap and the warm water fastly. The users need to wash their cutting board once they used it and they are advised not to wash it more than a few times. The users also need to forbid the hot water from coming up in contact with the bamboo so that it won't cause the damage. They are also advised not to use the abrasive material for the scrubbing process instead of that rub-down the entire board surface by using the soft cloth or with the hands if they are cleaning up the large-sized bamboo piece.
  • Avoid Soaking The Board: The users are advised not to soak up their bamboo cutting board into the water as the bamboo wood is very sensitive to the moisture and to the heat and specifically over the longer period of the time. The users are also advised not to put their cutting board into the dishwasher or soak up in the sink as it will get wrapped and will also develop the cracks.
  • Rinse The Board: Then rinse down the bamboo cutting board by using the lukewarm water. The users need to be assured to get rid of all the soap residue within the surface of the board by simply placing it beneath the running water. The users need to be very quick while washing it off as the bamboo gets wrapped off and that is why the users are advised to limit off kits exposure to the water.
  • Dry The Board: Then they need to dry off their board quickly once the users rinsed their board they need to make it dry completely by using the soft towel and then make it stand vertically so as to let it get air-dried. It might take a few hours to air dry the bamboo cutting board completely.

Way II: Removing The Stains And Odors

  • Use The Sea Salt: Start by sprinkling the sea salt layer over the entire cutting board surface. Once the users washed and then rinsed off their board then they need to apply the salt but they need to apply it before the bamboo is dried off. They need to apply the extra salt layer to the most stained spots. The sea salt will act as the abrasive material for removing the stained areas and it will eventually soak up all the unneeded moisture. If in case the users are dealing with the hard stains then they need to use the baking soda instead of using the sea salt.
  • Use The Lemon: Then scrub down the board by using the halved lemon as the lemon is very efficient in killing down the bacteria and in detaching the unpleasant smells within the bamboo surface. The users need to hold up the lemon citrus portion over the board and apply the slight salt over the stained area. Then they need to rub the lemon portion in the back and forth motion till the salt will get disappeared completely. The users also need to make sure that they scrub down the edges and the corners of the bamboo cutting board.
  • Apply The Salt Layer: Then they need to cover up the cutting board surface with the salt layer and the users are advised to evenly spread out the salt. The users need to make sure that they won't scrub off the salt and they need to be assured that their bamboo board is still dampened with the lemon juice when they will apply the salt layer. They need to be assured that they won't dry off the lemon extract within the surface of cutting board.
  • Let The Salt Sit For One Night: Then allow the salt to sit over the board surface for near about one complete night. If the users cannot leave up the salt to sit for one night then they need to leave it for near about two hours. As the lemon extract needs enough time to get penetrated within the bamboo surface and eventually the salt will soak up all the unneeded moisture.
  • Remove The Salt: Then detach the salt within the bamboo surface by using the spatula to scrape the salt. Then use the wet cloth to wipe down the leftover residue. The users can easily re-use the salt for getting used in the future. They need to scrape the salt and place it within the container so as to store it.

Way III: Regular Maintenance

  • Heat Up The Oil: Start by heating up the mineral oil till it won't get warm. The users need to pour down the mineral oil within the pan and then place the pan over the stove so as to warm it. The users just need to warm it rather than boiling it so that the oil will easily get soaked into the bamboo cutting board.
  • Apply The Oil: Then they need to apply the oil to the entire surface of the bamboo cutting board. They need to apply the oil to each corner and edges of the board. The oil will prevent the board from getting affected with the dryness as it acts as the protective layer.
  • Spread The Oil: Then they need to spread the oil to each corner and surface of the board by using the soft cloth so as to attain the even coat. If in case the bamboo board is having a uniform direction then they need to rub the cloth within the grain direction. Buff the oil layer in the small round directions over the bamboo board.
  • Wipe The Unneeded Oil: Finally allow the bamboo board to soak up the oil for almost one hour or for one complete night. Then wipe down all the unneeded oil by using the soft clean cloth. By doing this the users can easily store their board in the cool dry place for a longer period of time.
