How To Clean Oxidized Powder Coated Aluminum Patio Furniture

Whenever the coated aluminum furniture is exposed to the outdoor elements like sun, rain and wind oxidization occurs, oxidation is actually a type of the corrosion that destroys the appearance but protects the surface. If the oxidation is not treated at the proper time then it can cause pitting in the metal, then no cleaning can repair it.   1. First of all clean all the dirt and dust from the aluminum furniture by using a mild soap, water and sponge.
  2. Now mix the 1 quart of water with 1 quart of white vinegar, then use the application with a sponge in order to rub away any light oxidation from the surface.
  3. Apply an automotive rubbing compound that is designed for use on aluminum, apply the compound by the terry cloth rag, let the compound dry completely then wipe it using a clean terry cloth towel.
  4. For the heavy Areas of oxidation add dishwashing soap to a bucket of clean water then apply it by using super fine steel wool.
  5. At last wash the furniture with clean water once the aluminum is removed.


How To Clean Cast Aluminum Patio Furniture

Cast Aluminum is used for making the outdoor furniture, the cast aluminum is made using a process, called casting, in which the molten aluminum is poured into a mold. This process gives the purest and resilient aluminum. Cast Aluminum outdoor furniture is manufactured in pieces and then welded together to make a complete set. However, the cast aluminum is solid, which in turn means the resulting product is much heavier and strong than wrought and tubular aluminum furniture. Below are the steps to clean the Cast Aluminum Patio Furniture:
  1. Preparation: First of all, remove all the cushions from the furniture, then set the furniture on the clean and flat surface.
  2. Washing: Wash the furniture from top to bottom with pressure water using a garden hose, for any kind of the surface dust use the sponge in between washing. However, a universal cleaning kit can be used as long as it does contain oil or bleach to remove any dirt.
  3. Buff Away Scratches: To buff away any surface scratches use a wax based cleaner, use a small clean cloth and apply the application in a circular motion, then rinse it quickly. The wax coating will remain on the cast aluminum furniture for some time until the other coat is applied.
