How To Clean A Waxed Wood Floor: Steps To Clean

Steps To Clean A Waxed Hardwood Floor

Waxing the hardwood floor is actually a technique of floor finishing in which the clear wax like beeswax or carnauba is applied to the floor as a thin layer and quickly buffed to shine. The waxed hard floor is known to limit the absorption of spills that will keep the floors free from staining. In order to clean a waxed wood floor, the user needs to follow the below-given steps;
  1. Cleaning:
  2. The user needs to vacuum or sweep clean the waxed wood floor regularly in order to remove dust and dirt build-up from the surface. The user also needs to mop clean the flooring by using a cleaner that is suited for the floor.
  3. Use Floor Buffer:
  4. The waxed floor should be buffed with the floor buffer with lambswool attachment. Before using the floor buffer, it has been recommended to apply the finish restorer over the surface that will help to maximize the shine after the floor is vacuumed. While buffing, it is necessary to change pads as per requirements.
  5. Restoring Wax:
  6. The wax finish will not last forever and in some cases, even buffing will also not work. At that time, the wax needs to be stripped and a new coat of wax should be applied afterward. The old wax can be stripped with the help of mineral spirit, after which the new coat of wax should be applied with a rag followed by buffing the entire surface.
