- Gently place the tip of the turkey baster into the pipe. After that forcefully squirt the oxygen bleach in the drain pipe. Repeat this process for 3 to 4 times to cover up the inside of the pipe as much as possible. Leave the oxygen bleach for about 15 minutes, or the amount of time that is specified by the manufacturer.
- Finally rinse the drain of the sink thoroughly simply by squirting the hot water with the turkey baster. Then dip a cloth in distilled white vinegar and start wiping the inside of the overflow pipe for killing any of the bacteria that may be living in the mouth of the opening. Leave the vinegar to evaporate properly.
Tips
- Although the oxygen bleach is very less toxic than the normal household bleach, you must still handle it very carefully and also wear protective gloves while using it.
- Put a gallon of the near-boiling water down the drain once a week to avoid the future smells.
- Occasionally the user must run the water in the rarely used sinks in order to keep the P-trap full of the water. Adding the mineral oil will help to slow evaporation.
- When the debris clogs down into the drain vents, the water can start to pool up in the sink. This sluggish water is the reason for the stagnant odors.
