How To Caulk A Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink: Easy Procedure & Items Required

Easy Procedure & Items Required To Caulk A Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink

The users need to consider two important things when they seal the stainless sink and the two factors are the caulk type and where to keep it. Most of the caulk material usually does not fit with the tile and the metal so that is why the users can use silicone caulk that will affix with both the material and will also make the water barrier. The tile is not solid and for the flat surfaces like the laminate or the granite, then the users require the 2 caulk lines so as to be assured that no water will seep beneath the sink within the lines of grout that are eventually beneath the level of the tile. The users can easily caulk a stainless steel kitchen sink at home by gathering the below-mentioned materials and then following the below-defined procedure:

Materials Required

  • Utility Knife, Razor Blade Too & Rag
  • Caulk Gun & Nail
  • Mild Detergent

Procedure

  • Trim The Line: Start by trimming the line downwards pre-existing caulk so as to breach the seal by using the utility knife and then peel it far away within the counter and the sink surface. The users need to scrape off the leftover caulk by using the utility knife or the razor blade tool.
  • Wash The Area: Then wash down the area where actually the sink will meet up with the tile by using the hot water and the mild detergent. Then let the area get dried off completely.
  • Trim The Silicone Caulk Tube: Then trim off silicone caulk tube tip at near about 45-degree angle by using the utility knife. The users are advised to use the clear caulk instead of using the colored caulk as the toned caulk will not match up with other elements like the grout, tile, and the sink as well. Then place the caulk tube base within the caulk gun back and then allow the tip to rest within the notch at the gun front side. Break the seal within the tip by using the long-sized nail and then compress the gun trigger till the caulk will appear. Then the users need to wipe down the unneeded caulk by using the rag.
  • Push Away The Sink: The users then need to push away the sink from the surface of the counter to near about two inches. The users are advised to keep the sink high enough so that they can easily fit the caulk tube nozzle beneath it. The users need to ask assistance from another person who can easily hold up the sink for them.
  • Slide The Nozzle: Then the users need to slide down the nozzle beneath the sink in a way that it will easily touch the surface of the tile where the sink perimeter will sit. Then compress the trigger of the gun by applying the steady pressure when they will move the gun over the surface of the tile and around the sink surface by easily following the overhang sink line. The users need to lay the even caulk bead to the surface around the sink.
  • Diminish The Sink: Then they need to diminish the sink into the place on the caulk bead top. Then wipe down the unneeded caulk that will ooze beneath the sink by using the rag or the wet finger.
  • Lay The Caulk Bead: They also need to lay the caulk bead top on the outer sink corners where it will meet up with the tile. Then they need to wipe down the unneeded caulk by using the wet finger to flatten the caulk bead.
