How To Build Partition Wall With Suspended Ceiling: Step By Step Process To Build Wall With Suspended Ceiling

Step By Step Process To Build Partition Wall With Suspended Ceiling

Walls in rooms with suspended ceilings are usually known as partitions, due to the reason that they don’t take or handle a load of ceiling joists or trusses. With certain fire prevention and protection, a partition expands or stretches above the height of the ceiling, and a metal wall angle secures to the front part of the partition at ceiling height. A tenant improvement or remodel usually includes partitions for offices as well as service rooms. These walls secure to the bottom of the suspended ceiling network. Regardless of the walls being framed with metal or wood, they join or fasten to the ceiling using a track that complements the width of the studs. In order to build a partition wall with a suspended ceiling, go through the below-mentioned steps carefully:
  1. Establish The Location Of The Wall: First of all, determine the location of the wall by calculating & quantifying from exiting walls as well as marking the floor at locations for each end of the wall with the help of a marking crayon or masking tape.
  2. Climb A Stepladder: Now, ascend or escalate a stepladder positioned at one of the marks. With the help of a chalk line as a plumb bob, change or shift the mark from the floor to the bottom of the suspended ceiling network. Mark the grid with the help of a crayon or tape. Continue with this step and mark the network at the opposite end of the wall.
  3. Attach One End Of Chalk Line To The Grid: Next, secure or affix one end of the chalk line to the network at one of the wall marks. If necessary, take help from someone in order to hold the end of the line. Drag the other end of the line to the opposite mark on the network. Snap a chalk line at the bottom of the network.
  4. Install 24-gauge Sheet Metal Ceiling Track: After that, place or fix the 24-gauge sheet metal ceiling track to the bottom of the network. For those walls having lengths less than 10 feet, trim the track to length with the help of sheet metal cutters. Otherwise, use full-length pieces and trim a filler, if necessary, so that the track expands the length of the wall.
  5. Position Ceiling Track At The Underside Of The Network: Place the ceiling track at the bottom of the network with the channel facing down. Place or arrange one edge of the track in a straight line with the help of a chalk line. Secure or affix it at each intersection of a main T or cross T using 3/4-inch self-tapping screws. Push or move the screws upward through the channel of the track and into the T with the help of a power or cordless drill and screw-tip attachment. Use two screws, equally spaced, at each intersection of a T.
  6. Secure Metal & Wood Studs Into The Channel: Place, fit, or push the higher ends of each wall stud into the channel of the ceiling track. Use two, 3/4-inch self-tapping screws along each side of the track in order to secure metal studs in the channel. Use 1 1/4-inch self-tapping screws to attach wood studs in the channel.
