Step By Step Guide And Items Required To Build An End Table With A Drawer

The end tables usually work at a favorable place for positioning the lamps over it or other items that can be easily reachable within the sofa. The users can easily build an end table with affixed drawer at home by gathering the below-mentioned materials and then following the below-described steps:

Materials And Tools Required

  • Kreg Clamps, Pocket-Hole Jig, Rip-Cut, Air Compressor & Sander
  • Circular Saw, Drill, Miter Saw, Nail Gun & Measuring Tape
  • 1x2, 96"Board, 1x3, 96"Board, 1x6, 96" Board, 1x4, 12" Board, 3/4" Thick Plywood Sheet
  • Pocket Hole Screws, Sandpaper, Wood Glue And Brad Nails

Procedure

  • Trim And Drill: Start by trimming all the board pieces as per their desired size dimensions and then drill down all the pocket holes. The users are advised to mark down the drilled hole areas over the trimmed board areas so as to avoid drilling down the hole at the other side.
  • Glue Down The Legs: In order to attain the desired thickness for the legs the users are advised to glue down 2 pieces of the 1x2 trimmed board. They need to spread the glue layer over one piece by covering up its whole face. Then they need to place the second trimmed piece over its top and then make all its corners flush and then the users need to clamp both of them jointly. The users are advised to use almost four clamps for this process. Once the wood glue is dried off completely then the users need to detach the clamps and then sand down the legs by using the fine-grit sandpaper so as to smooth down all the rough corners.
  • Make The Drawer Frame: In order to make the frontmost apron the users are advised to craft the simple frame by trimming the 1x2 sized board and this will be used to hold up the drawers.
  • Affix The Legs With The Aprons: Then the users need to affix the aprons and the frame of the drawer with the legs. When the users affix the aprons with the legs they need to balance it from the outer leg corner by using the 1/4 hardboard.
  • Build The Base Shelf: The users need to use the 1x3 sized board and the plywood for crafting the base shelf. They need to be assured that they won't forget to drill down the pocket holes within the surface of the trimmed boards. The pocket holes will let the users affix the base shelf with the legs.
  • Affix The Base Shelf: They need to mark down the minute mark near about 8 1/2" upwards from each base of the leg by using the sharp pencil. Then they need to lay the trimmed base shelf within the marked area of the legs and then they need to drill down the pocket screws within it. The users are advised to drill the holes only at the marked area of the leg.
  • Make The Top: Then the users need to adjoin the 1x2 board with the plywood so as to make the top. If desired the users can also sand down the top corners so as to make them round and smooth as well.
  • Affix The Top: They need to use those drilled pocket holes within the apron to affix the top.
  • Make The Drawer Box: The users need to use the plywood sheet to craft the drawer box and then they need to affix the drawer face by using the two screws from the inner drawer area. The drawer also requires strong support and for that, the users need to use the 1x2 sized board and the pocket screws so as to affix it to the backside and to the front side to the base of the drawer accordingly.
  • Finish Up The Process: The users then need to paint their end table with their desired stain and then allow it to get dried off completely. Once the paint is dried the users need to drill the small hole at the front side of the drawer so as to affix the drawer pull.
