Easy Steps For Building A Wooden Shoe Bench

A wooden shoe bench is a piece of practical furniture where the user can deposit the shoes and will make better use of hallway space.   • Determine The Size: The first thing is to determine the size of the wooden shoe bench like how deep the bench user wants. The user can go for 2*10 or the size according to the available space.
  • Cut Legs: Once all the measurement is done then the user can go for legs, the standard height of the bench is about 17 to 19 inches. If the user wants to save the space then go for the 17-inch height. Here, for instance, the length is 2*10 and height is 17 inches, then Cut a length of 2x10 having a one cross-cut that regular and straight cut and other cuts 45° bevel. However, the longer face of the cut piece should be 17 inches and that will equal the height of the bench. Repeat the same process for the second leg.
  • Copper Pipe: Now in this step the user needs to cut the copper for the purpose of shoe organizer, with a hacksaw measure and cut the copper pipe into 6 equal lengths, once the copper is cut down then use a sanding sponge or rough piece of sandpaper to smooth out the cut edges of copper pipes that are sharp.
  • Clean And Polish Copper Pipe: Remove all the stickers on the copper pipe and clean sticky residue with the adhesive remover. Clean the rest of the pipe with any cleaner, use the fine steel wool for the polishing purpose. The user should wear gloves for the cleaning and polishing.
  • Pre-Drill Holes: After the above step is done then go for pre-drilling of holes for copper pipe, in order to determine the spacing of the pipe measure the height of the shoes. Now the user needs to measure the grid from the inside of the bench legs. Tape off the spade bit from the points on the side of the grid, then start pre-drilling.
  • Sand: The next step is to sand down the legs with 150-grit sandpaper in order to make them smooth.
  • Stain: Before fixing the legs of the bench its important to stain them with any good quality finish.
  • Connect: Now its time to connect the pipes to legs of shoe rack bench, once the user is confident with the fitting, then apply best quality glue to the holes of one leg and before the glue dries fit the pipes into place, apply the glue to the other leg as well and fit together in the same pattern.
  • Top: Cut the top of the bench, for this the user needs to measure the bench from end to end to determine the length of the benchtop. Then, cut a piece with the 45° angles to fit. After that, the user needs to position the cut piece between the legs.
  • Sand And Stain: Its very important to sand and stain the top piece, sand with 150-grit sandpaper.
  • Assemble Bench: At last, the user needs to position the top piece in right place and secure each end using glue and with screws. To make the screws less noticeable it is advisable to pre-drill from the side.
