Steps

  1. Cut: If you want to build your own console table then you need a good quality wood. Cut your wood according to the required size of your console table. You may need 4 pieces of 5 feet of 2×4 boards for the top of your table. Cut the two support pieces from your wood, 1/2 inch from the edge with 1 3/4 inches left on each side of your console frame. You need to use two 1/2 inch premium screws to hold these support pieces in place. For the two bottom shelves of your table, you will need three 59 inches long pieces each of 2×4 board. For the legs of your table, you will need four 32 1/2-inch pieces of 2x4s. Then you need to send all the pieces with a hand sander.
  2. Assemble: You need to attach some useful items to your table such as legs, Decorative Braces, Shelves, Tabletop, etc.
    • Attach Legs: The first brace piece is 1/2 of an inch from the bottom and middle brace piece is sixteen inches from the bottom on each leg of your console table. To hide the screws, then you need to screw in the 2 1/2 inch screw from the back and at an angle of your console frame by using a drill machine.
    • Attach Tabletop: In order to attach the tabletop you need to use HeadLok decorative screws, and simply use hammer or driller to fix these screws. You’ll need one of these screws on each corner of your console table frame –four screws in all.
    • Attach Shelves: Fix rubber mallet on your console frame to get everything in place then flip your console upside down to drill these screws in place and don’t forget to drill the pilot holes before screwing these boards together too.
    • Attach Decorative Braces: Decorative braces will give an additional look to your table. Cut for each spot using 1×2 boards and 50° on each end of your console table. To attach them you need to use a nail gun, brad nails and a little bit of wood glue in betwixt each piece.
  3. Stain: After building your own console table now you need to stain your table with dark walnut color. Use rubber gloves while staining your console table, use an old rag and apply the stain with it and then wipe off any extra stain with a clean rag and let it dry for at least 24 hours before following any further steps.
