Steps For This Project

After collecting all the mentioned items, now you need to follow all the 6 given steps:
  1. First you need to decide at which place you want to locate your closet. This will be the most difficult part of this process. The most logical place would be an end of a hallway, alcove, or on a wall without doors or windows to work around.
  2. Next, layout the walls & doors. Quicken, it is a walk-in closet or wall, that depends on the amount of your room available to you.
  3. Remove any ceiling or base trim & carpet from the area you have laid out for construction. Always be careful not to break the trim, because you will reuse it.
  4. Install your framing now, beginning with the base & top plate. Attach the base with deck screws to your floor & the top plate to your ceiling. Use 4-inch (10.2 cm) toggle bolts & construction adhesive.
  5. Hang .5-inch (1.27 cm) sheathing or Sheetrock on the walls. Both sides of the framing will use Sheetrock screws. Cut Sheetrock to the required size by using a utility knife & a straight edge as a guide. Run edge of sheathing to the roughed-in door openings.
  6. Finally you need to position the doors in your closet, this will depend on the type of doors you've chosen.
