Items Needed

  • 3/4th Inch Plywood Sheets, 1/4th Inch MDF Sheet
  • Drawer Slides, Drawer Pull Handles
  • Polyurethane Glue And 3/4th Inch Drywall Screws

Procedure

  • Determine The Requirement: Start by deciding how much big the users want their chest of drawers to be and how much drawers they want to be on their chest. The box of the chest needs to be crafted from the five panels of the 3/4th inch plywood and the back of the chest should be built from the 1/4th inch MDF sheet. Then the users need to trim up the plywood sheet as per their requirement. The ideal size dimensions of the top panel are 22” x 34”, the base panel is 22” x 34”, left-sided panel 22” x 46”, right side panel 22” x 46” and the front sided panel 20.5” x 44.5”.
  • Affix The Base Panel: The users can easily affix the base panel by sewing the L-shaped brackets with the left-sided front, right-sided front, left-sided back, and the right-sided back accordingly. Then they need to screw down the holes so as to affix down the L-shaped brackets and each left side of the L-shaped brackets is having the 2 holes. The brackets are covered with the gorilla glue and affix down within the plywood edge. The L-shaped brackets usually add strength while the assembling process. The one wood strip is affixed with the front-most corner of the base panel and the other strip is affixed with the top sided panel in the same way. The strips are trimmed as per the exact side panel length and are glued down and then screwed down within the top side corners and the base panel so as to form the 3-sided tray. Finally, the users will end up having the top and the base panel for the drawer chest that is having the 3 strips that cover up the front and the side corners of the sheet of the plywood.
  • Affix The Metal Slides: The users then need to affix the metal slides to the 2 side portions of the drawer chest. The users are advised to importantly measure perfectly so as to be assured that the right and the left panels will match perfectly. The slides of the drawer from one panel need to be unscrewed and then should be re-attached once the users have made more perfect measurements. Then the users need to affix the slides with the top and base panels. The users need to take the base panel with all of its three strips and the metal brackets and then drill the 3 holes within the side strips and then they need to follow the same procedure with the topmost panel.
  • Place The Base Panel: Then the users need to place the base panel to the floor and then apply the glue within the inner surface of the right and the left strips. They need to place the left-side panel to the top side of the base panel and then affix the side panel with the base by using the drywall screws so as to screw within the strip to the side panel of the plywood. They need to screw the L-shaped bracket within the side corner of the plywood. Then they need to affix the topmost chest panel with the side panel.
  • Affix The Second Side: The users need to affix the 2nd side and then affix as they did with the other panel so that the chest will finally have the four-sided body. Then they need to trim and affix the strip with the inner corner of the strip that will flush within the plywood inner surface. Then affix the strips with plywood outside area so as to create the L-shaped corner with the front-sided strip. Then they need to place the chest body facing downwards over the floor surface and then place the back-sided chest panel. The users are advised while trimming the back panel they need to trim it with the square-shaped corners and then they need to apply the glue to the plywood corner and then gently place that back to the body of chest. Affix the left-sided panel with the plywood by using the screws. Then they need to allow the wood to get dried off completely and then make the chest stand up.
  • Affix The Molding: Then they need to affix the molding to the chest corners by using the nails and the glue as well. Then apply the paint to the molding and protect the paint by applying the varnish layer.
  • Affix The Drawer: Finally the users need to prepare the drawer slides and then affix it down by using the glue and the screws as well. Then apply the paint to the drawer and then let the paint get dried off completely and affix the drawer base with the screws and glue as well. Then they need to affix the slides of the drawer to the base of each one of the drawers and then let them slide inwards. Then the users require to affix the drawer pulls as well.
