7 Easy Steps Of Building A Breakfast Nook Bench With Storage

The Breakfast nook bench can help to keep the kitchen an open-concept rather than overcrowded with the counters, islands, a table as well as chairs that all consume much more floor space. In order to build your own breakfast nook bench with storage, the user needs to go through all the steps mentioned below carefully:
  1. Build The Frame: Start the process by building the frame of the bench, use the 2×4’s lumbar to build the frame for a bench. With the help of a tape, measure the area where the bench is going to be installed. The user needs to make sure to choose a comfortable height for the bench according to the need. After the measurement is done then cut lumbar, for example, if the size of the bench is 12’x6' then cut 12 2×4’s, and use a Kreg jig for any vertical holes for the screws.
  2. Baseboard: If the user wishes to leave the baseboard at the bottom and wants work around it, then the user needs to attach a 3/4-inch thick board right onto the wall, this will help to close the gap. This board is also used to fix the bench to the wall. If they leave the baseboard on the wall, then it is important to make sure to have some extra boards available which will be used to fill in the gap. In case the user has not a baseboard, then continue the process with securing the bench frame to the wall. It is a good option to use a few good screw hooks.
  3. Front And Sides: Measure the front and the sides of the bench frame, then attach 3/4-inch plywood to the front as well as to the sides. If the baseboard is sticking out, so cut the shape of it with the help of a table saw. The user will also need some trim for giving the bench a finished look, the white 3/4?x3? trim looks nice.
  4. Hide The Ends: In order to hide the ends cut the trim with the miter saw or electric sander
at 45 degrees as this will do the trick. And then attach using the gorilla glue and nail gun.
  5. Paint: After the above step is done then the user needs to paint the entire bench using 3 to 4 coats of paint and 1 or 2 coats of Sealer.
  6. Measure The Top: After the paint is dry then secure the bench to the wall. It is a good idea to measure the top again only once, after the bench is installed. After the measurement is done then cut a sheet from 3/4-inch plywood with the help of a Veneer cutter.
  7. Attach The Plywood: Using the screws attach the plywood to the frame and fill out all the holes with the help of a wood filler. But if the user plan on adding a removable top for storage purpose, then they could always add some hinges to the kitchen nook bench.
