How To Bend Laminate Over Bullnose: Ultimate & Best Way Of Bending Laminate

Ultimate & Best Way Of Bending Laminate Over Bullnose

Bending laminate is not impossible, based on the size of the curve on which the laminate is to be bent and the type of laminate used, the user can create a rounded counter using laminate. To do this go through the below-mentioned step by step way. Make sure not to skip any step, doing so will not give you perfect result:
  1. Radius Of The Curve: The first step is to get the measurement of radius of the curve. In order to measure this locate the spot on each of the sides of the counter’s rounded edge exactly where the curve begins and draw out the straight lines which should be perpendicular to the edges at the point where they intersect each other. Then simply measure the length of the intersection back to the edge. The larger the radius, the more smooth it will be bend.
  2. Square Edge: The user should make sure that the edge is square, in order to stop any gaps or bubbles in the laminate, for that its important to make sure that vertical edge around which the laminate material will bend should be perfectly square with the top of the counter. In order to check this out simply make sure that the horizontal surface edge, as well as the vertical edge, should come together perfectly with T-square. If in case the edge is not perfectly square, that time the user can smooth down the vertical surface using the belt sander that will help to finish preparation for the laminate.
  3. Correct Size Laminate Strip: Use a strip of laminate that should be 1/2 inch wider than the width of the edge that the strip is attaching to. This is helpful in case the laminate shifts a tiny bit as the user needs to bend it into place. In order to trim out the excess after the piece is in right place perfectly use a router.
  4. Start Attaching: The user needs to start the attaching process from one of the straight side. Once the user has applied the laminate glue to the strip, it's advisable not to attach the laminate starting at the curve and then folding the sides back. Instead, start with the end of the strip from the one having the straight sides of the edge before making the curve. In order to roll down this section tight before bending over the curve begin to use a J-roller.
  5. Bend Slowly: Now once the one end of the strip is tightly in place, the next step is to begin bending the rest of the strip slowly around the curve. Keep the J-roller on the other hand, so that the user can firmly roll on the strip with the bend edge.
  6. Trim The Excess: Once the glue is fully set and dry, then trim out the excess portion of the strip with the help of router.
