  6. Thread nuts onto the handles of the fasteners (screws) in order to secure the bed frame as well as the headboard together. Make sure to hand-tighten the nuts.
  7. Finally, insert the pointed end of an Allen key into the socket on the screw head in order to take hold of it in place. Finish tightening the nut with the help of an adjustable wrench.

What Size Bolts Are Needed To Connect A Metal Bed Frame?

The majority of the metal bed frames need bolts having a 1/4-inch diameter and 3 1/2 inches long. In order to assemble the frame, 4 of these bolts are needed, 4 1/4-inch washers and 4 1/4-inch hex nuts. However, they will work successfully if in case you are assembling only the metal bed frame, or if you are attaching a headboard less than 3 inches wide at the point where it attaches to the frame.
