- Clean: First of all clean the surface of the wood, so that all the dust and dirt is removed.
- Sand: Now wet sand the surface using 320 grit sandpaper. Simply wet the area and sandpaper, in order to apply the even pressure use the sanding block/sponge or use sandpaper which should be wrapped around a sanding block.
- Dry: Let the surface dry completely, all the moisture should be dried before going for the gel staining.
- Gel Stain: Apply the thick layer of the gel stain with the help of the foam brush and remove the excess with the staining pads. After that let the stain to dry for almost 24 hours.
- Top Coat: Once the stain is dried than apply the top coat of the choice, the water-based top coat is the best option, which is easy to apply and gets cleaned easily but oil based will also work.
