How To Anchor Outdoor Blinds: Step By Step Easy Way Of Anchoring Outdoor Blinds

Step By Step Easy Way Of Anchoring Outdoor Blinds

A swinging outdoor blind can become very hazardous for anyone on the patio, and a strong wind can also rip the blind off from its headrail. So, anchoring the blind to the ground is a better & best way to protect it from flying around in the wind. The step by step easy way of anchoring outdoor blinds is mentioned below:
  1. Measure: The first step is to lower down the outdoor blind until the bottom of the rail rests 1/2 inch off the ground approximately. Then measure in from both ends of the bottom rail 2 inches. Put a mark on the ground below the bottom rail as well as on the bottom rail. These 4 marks will work as a locator for the mounting locations.
  2. Drill A Hole: On each mark on the ground drill a hole. If the user is drilling into the concrete, then drill a hole that is large enough to fit the masonry anchors. To obtain a clean hole use a masonry bit while drilling. If in case of drilling into wood, drill a hole that is half the diameter of the eye bolts that user plan to use as anchors.
  3. Push The Masonry Anchors: In the holes push the masonry anchors. If needed, use a hammer to gently tap them in right place. Be careful not to crack the concrete. The anchor must fit at the snug, but not to the point where it cannot screw into the concrete. If the user is installing into the wood, then leave this step.
  4. Threaded Shaft: Keep the threaded shaft of the eye bolt in the hole. Hold down the eye bolt vertical and then turn it into the clockwise direction with the help of fingers. After that, slide the shaft of a screwdriver in the hole of the eye bolt and then turn it to the rest of the way. Stop at the point once the hole in the eye bolt will rest perpendicular to the bottom rail. Repeat the same process with the second eye bolt.
  5. Bottom Rail: In the bottom rail drill the pilot holes with the help of a drill bit that is half the diameter of the threaded shaft on the hooks.
  6. Hook: Keep the threaded shaft of hook into the hole. Hold down the hook straight and then turn it in the clockwise direction with the help of fingers. Most of the bottom rails are plastic or wood, so the user will not require any tools for installation purpose.
  7. Eye Bolts: At last, the user can lower or raise the blind as needed and place the hooks right into the eye bolts. When the user wants to raise the blind, that time remove the hooks from the eye bolts.
