5 Easy Steps Of Anchoring A Dishwasher To The Side Of Cabinets

Anchors are very useful in preventing dishwashers from leaning forward onto the floor each & every time you pull the underside dish rack out onto the door. Dishwashers are generally top-mounted to the bottom of a countertop. All the types of countertops, including marble & granite, are tough to drill into and can crack, which in turn needs the dishwasher to be side-mounted to the adjoining cabinets. A dishwasher is anchored using mounting brackets that fasten the top corners of the unit in order to keep the unit securely in place. In order to anchor a dishwasher to the side of cabinets, go through the below-mentioned steps carefully:
  1. Measurement: First of all, evaluate & compute the height of your cabinet opening, starting from the floor to the underside of the counter where you are planning to install the dishwasher. The height will ascertain or establish the situation of the screw holes of the mounting brackets.
  2. Install Mounting Brackets: Place, fit, or push the side mount brackets into the bracket slots situated on the top front corners of the dishwasher. Place the screw holes in accordance with the height of the cabinet opening. If the height of the cabinet opening is 34 1/8 inch to 35 inches, then place or fix the mounting brackets with the screw holes positioning upward. If your cabinet opening calculates 34 inches to 34 1/8 inches, then place or fix the mounting brackets with the screw holes positioning downward.
  3. Gently Slide The Dishwasher: Move the dishwasher smoothly back into the cabinet opening as long as the tub screw is three-quarters of an inch back from the front edge of the cabinets.
  4. Open The Door Of The Dishwasher: Keep the door of the dishwasher open. Take hold of a carpenter's level underneath the top of the tub screw in order to check if it is level. Position the carpenter's level on the open door to find out whether it is level or not. If it is not, use a wrench in order to turn the foot levelers clockwise or anticlockwise, as needed, in order to fit the dishwasher to make it level and leave a 5/16-inch space underneath the countertop and top of the dishwasher.
  5. Drill Pilot Holes: Finally, you need to drill pilot holes between the screw holes of the mounting brackets into the side of the cabinet. Drive the screws into the cabinet side with the help of a drill or an electric screwdriver in order to fix the mounting brackets and take hold of the dishwasher in place.
