What Are The Ways To Age Wood Using Baking Soda Quickly?

Baking soda is one of the best and natural ways to get the aged wood look quickly without wasting much time as well as money. Steps to age the wood naturally using baking soda and vinegar quickly are as follows:

Required Items

  • Water, Baking Soda
  • Apple Cedar Vinegar, sand paper
  • Paintbrush, Wirebrush
  • Lint free Cloth

Steps To Proceed

1.Surface Preparation: Prior proceeding with the aging stuff properly prepares the wood top using chemical strippers.
2.Solution: Add one part of baking soda with 1 part of the water and create the blend.
3.Apply: Apply the paste to the entire furniture surface using a paintbrush.
4.Sunlight: Keep the furniture under direct sunlight for nearly 6 hours.
5.Wire Brush: Use a wire brush to give it the aged/ distressed look and keep it like this for 8 to 12 hours.
6.Wash: Wash the furniture piece and let it dry.
7.Gel Stain: Use a paintbrush to apply gel stain over it.

Vinegar

The Vinegar is also used to age wood for which the steps are mentioned below:
1.Solution: Fill the container with white vinegar and add crushed 000 steel wool into it. Seal the container and shake well. Keep the solution aside like this for 24 hours.
2.Apply: After 24 hours solution is ready to apply with a paint brush. Ensure to shake the solution well prior to application.
3.Dry: Let the solution to dry and wood will start appearing dark resulting in the quick aging of the wood.
