How To Adjust Shelves In Kitchen Cabinets: Step By Step Process Of Adjusting Shelves In Kitchen Cabinet

Step By Step Process Of Adjusting Shelves In Kitchen Cabinets

Most kitchen cabinet shelves may be moved around easily. Several kitchen cabinets have flexible multi-tiered shelving. Often, shelf panels are made to be changed or removed entirely to create the required space. To prevent inadvertent damage on the shelf, breakable items like cookware, glasses, and dinnerware need enough room. The optimal access for each user is made possible by customized shelf locations. To accommodate shifting storage needs, alter the height of the shelves in your kitchen cabinets.

Items Needed

  • Screwdriver (Optional)
  • Measuring Tape Or Ruler
  • Bubble Level

Step By Step Process

  • Open The Kitchen Cabinet Doors
The kitchen cabinet doors should be opened as widely as possible. Clear the area above and below the shelf you want to transfer of all storage items.
  • Remove The Screws & Set Them Aside
Look for any screws holding the plank to the side supports on the shelf's underside. Keep the screws together for later installation after removing them.
  • Remove Empty Shelf From Pilasters
Put your palms up and both of your hands under the shelf as if you were carrying it. Gently raise the shelf until it separates from the pilasters, or little support pillars.
  • Remove Any Support Brackets
Pilasters should be removed from the cabinet's side holes. Remove any support brackets by unscrewing them.
  • Measure The Height Of The Largest Item
The largest object you plan to store on the altered shelf should have a height that is measured. Dishes placed vertically are counted as a single large item. To make the item tall enough to be titled when put on the shelf or taken off, add 2 inches.
  • Find The Position With Sufficient Space
In the cabinet, move the horizontal shelf panel up and down until you reach a location where your largest item has enough room. If you are unable to hold the cabinet with one hand, ask a helper to take the measurements. Place a single pilaster in the opening beneath the shelf.
  • Remove The Shelf Panel
Take the shelf panel off. Place the remaining pilasters at a height that is equal to the first one in the holes in the cabinet sides. To make sure the level between the two pilasters is equal, balance them.
  • Align The Notches Or Holes
Align the shelf's notches or holes so that they rest equally on the support pegs. Any removed support brackets should be screwed back on. To make sure the freshly modified shelf is level, place the level on top of it.
