Step By Step Guide Of Vertical & Horizontal Adjustment Of The Drawer Slides
The drawer slides need to slide easily and smoothly within the cabinet surface. If in case the drawer gets stuck, bound, or gets rubbed when the users are using the drawer then they need to adjust the slides. The users can easily find up the built-in fittings in every cabinet drawer glide. The perpendicular or vertical fitting is specifically at the glide of the drawer and the horizontal fitting is specifically on the glide of the cabinet. The users need to simply use the screwdriver so as to adjust up the drawer slides. The users can easily adjust the drawer slides at home by following the below-defined steps for both vertical as well as horizontal adjustment:
Vertical Adjustment
- Moving The Drawers: Start by moving up the drawers outwards in the in and out motion. The users need to examine the spacing in between the top and base of the cabinet and the drawer as well. If in case the users find out that the drawer gets rubbed at the face frame of the cabinet within its top, then detach the drawer within its cabinet.
- Remove The Screws: Then unfasten the screws within the egg-shaped hole that is located at the front most side within both drawer guide sides. In order to unfasten the screws, the users need to use the screwdriver. The guides are usually located on both the drawer sides at its base and the screw that is placed within the hole is located at the backside of the drawer front. The users require to unfasten it gently and not to detach it completely. Then they need to detach the rest of the leftover screws within the guides but they are advised not to detach the screw that is placed at the back.
- Tap The Guides: If in case the drawers get rubbed within the top then the users need to tap up the drawer guides and by doing so the drawer will get down. Then the guide will easily move within the hole and then move equally the sides and then they need to fasten the screws within the holes accordingly.
- Place The Drawer Back: Then the users need to place the drawer back to the cabinet and then drift the drawer in the inward and the outward direction. Then the users need to examine whether the drawer still gets rubbed at top. Then they need to detach the drawer and then tap down the guides as required till the glides of the drawer run smoothly. Then they need to fasten up the screws within the hole and then place the actual screws that they detached from both the sides and then fasten them respectively.
Horizontal Adjustment
- Move The Drawers: Start by moving the drawers from the cabinets in the inwards and in the outwards motion. If in case the users find out that the drawer gets rubbed at the sides then they need to detach the drawer within the cabinet and then place it separately.
- Unfasten The Screws: Then the users need to unfasten the screws within the hole that are present on both the sides of the guides. Usually, there are 2 screws within the guides and then detach the leftover screws within both of the guides.
- Tap The Guides: Then they need to tap the guides towards the left side if in case the drawer gets rubbed towards the rightmost side. If in case the drawer gets rubbed at the leftmost side then they need to tap down the guides towards the rightmost side.
- Insert The Drawer: Then they need to place the drawer within the cabinet and then examine the rubbing on both of the sides. The users need to keep on tapping the guides until the glides of the drawer run smoothly.
- Fasten Up The Screws: Finally fasten up the screws within the holes and then place the screw within the guide and then fasten it tightly.
