2 Easy Methods For Adjusting Drawer Glides

The drawers should glide smoothly as well as effortlessly in and out. If incase the drawer sticks or binds when it is being used, do not wait at all just try to adjust it again. There are built-in adjustments for almost all drawer glides, whether the adjustment is for vertical alignment of the drawer glide or horizontal adjustments of the cabinet glide, a screwdriver is the best way to adjust any drawer.

Method 1: Vertical Adjustment

  1. Move: The first step is to take the drawer in and out of the cabinet. After that check the spacing between the cabinet and the drawer both at the top and bottom. If incase the drawer touches on the cabinet frame at the top, then remove the drawer from its place.
  2. Loosen The Screw: In the next step the user needs to lose the oval-shaped hole which is at the front on both sides of drawer guides. For this job take a Phillips-tip screwdriver. The drawer glides are on both sides of the drawer at the bottom. Just behind the drawer front is the screw in the oval-shaped hole. After locating, lose it slightly but remember don't remove it. Remove all the remaining screws in the glides, but it's important to leave one at the back.
  3. Tap: If incase the drawer rubs at the top that time tap the glides. This will help to bring the drawer down. The glide will move inside the hole which is oval-shaped. Try to move both sides equally. Tight the screw slightly in the oval-shaped hole.
  4. Put The Drawer Back: Now its time to put the drawer back into the cabinet. Check if the drawer rubs at the top again by sliding it in and out of the place. Until the drawer glides smoothly tap the glide up or down as needed. Now its time to tighten the screw in the oval-shaped hole, here the user needs to put the original screws that were removed from both sides and simply tighten them again.

Method 2: Horizontal Adjustment

  1. For the Horizontal direction again move the drawer in and out of the place. If in case it rubs on the sides, then remove it from the cabinet position.
  2. Now the next step is to loosen the screw that is in the oval-shaped hole on both sides. On both sides, there are 2 screws in both guides. Take off all the remaining screw from both glides.
  3. If the drawer sticks on the right side that time tap the drawer guides on the left and to the right if the drawer rubs on the left side of the frame.
  4. Put the drawer right back into the cabinet then look out for rubbing on the sides again. Then simply tap the glides in the direction as needed until it flies smoothly without rubbing. After that tight, the screws again in the hole of oval shape.
